Hi, I applied for a Non O based on retirement,  December 3 2018

I assumed that if granted a 90 day Non O, that it would start from that date and expire 90 days later on March 2 2019, I  have only today received my Non O Visa and it starts from January 28 2019, the last day of my 60 day tourist Visa and expires 27 April 2019, this has messed up my plans of being able to have an extension expire date of March 2nd, so that I  can return to the UK at that time. Have I made a mistake  in my understanding?

Not your mistake. Just an immigration office doing it differently than normal.

I assume you mean March 2nd in the future or do you mean now.

Hi Joe, I was hoping to apply for my extension tomorrow,  as that would have been 30 days until March 2nd. And then return to the UK , 25 February, as I have a flight booked for that date .And yes extension expire yearly in the future March 2nd

if you plan on returning before the O visa expires all that is needed is a re-entry permit which would allow you to leave and apply for the extension on return

I was hoping to leave on February 25th with an extension in place,  and not return  before July,  but seems I'll need to return in April to apply for my extension. My plan was to be able to return to the UK late February every year,  as I still do contracting work in the UK .
