rooster59
Meteorological Dept expects limited rain Itiporn Lakarnchua BANGKOK, 1st February 2019 (NNT) – The Director-General of the Meteorological Department has noted that the weather in Bangkok over the next few days may include limited showers, which could help ease the particulate matter or PM 2.5 situation. Meteorological Department Director-General Phuwiang Prakam-min reported today that from February 1-3 a weak high pressure front will cover upper Thailand and likely influence rainfall in western Bangkok and Samut Prakan province. Rain may occur in the areas of Suan Luang, Phra Kanong, Bangna and Lad Krabang. More rain is expected in the capital between February 4 and 6. The director-general added that stronger winds are also expected to help disperse the haze. Winds are expected from the north, northeast and west. -- nnt 2019-02-
flyingtlger
The Thailand MUST quit relying on wind or rain to control the pollution problem. Thailand must take control of the pollution caused mostly by outdated and old emission controls in vehicles. Too many antiquated buses, trucks, tuk tuks and cars on the road that emit way too much nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide into the air. Shooting water into the air is only a superficial way of deceiving the PMI readings. It's like putting a band aid on an erupting volcano and hoping it'll stop it from erupting again....... overherebc
Looking at windy .com it seems there may be some showers around but not really substantial so the effect will probably not be that great.

Time for tv posters to recognise that the problem is poor recognition of the sources of the pollution, yes vehicle exhaust is a major factor but burning of agricultural waste is also a major component but is not being tackled and only mentioned in passing. I leave others to speculate why this is so.
