Popeye should get in touch with Pinocchio directly on his hotline regarding this matter. He will fix it just like he fixes everything else like beach chairs, pavements, lotteries and corruption in the civil service.

And who shall be wimpy?

  • Burning sugar cane is illegal. She should report the municipal authority for negligence of duty to someone higher up the food chain.

Until there's a change of culture and a understanding of the harm all this burning off does, burning off will continue, it all boils down to education .

Who are going to educate the government officials with the power to change policies that address the problems.  Then knowing how Thailand actually works, who is going to enforce the rules to the letter?

Seems social media is the only way to embarrass the officials into doing something!

If the sugar mills stopped accepting burnt cane. it would stop instantly.

Nearly complained and then realised there was no point so had another beer and my probles just faded away..

Used to be the norm in Queensland until they found that leaving the trash on the field cut down the water required and improved the yield.

I wonder if anyone would listen, oh I forgot, TIT

And it used to be called "black gold" back then too.

Until it falls on the Big Pumpkins house or Watchmans house like in this Lady's picture nothing will be done about it !

Meanwhile; the Lady will be arrested for harming the image of Thailand !!

You say there are areas where there is clean air...... Enlighten us please.

At this very moment here in our out of the way Issan village i cannot breath outside.

There are 2 fires burning here, 1 of them is burning rubber or something similar, the air is toxic.

I'm sorry to hear about your air quality colin, but I am telling you that the air in the area in which we live, is clean, rice fields are green and no smoking stubble or cane fields.

"You can't live in some parts of Thailand due to illegal, uncontrolled, burning of sugar cane and rice stubble." Which causes black snow.

There are also many areas where the air is, fortunately, still clean and breathable.

Unfortunately most of those places are remote in National parks or away from human activities. Places where you can't live.

Last year our local factory said it would stop accepting burnt cane and farmers said they would stop growing sugar. This year the factory has no problem with burnt cane.

The black snow is the one thing that I hate living hear, but I know there is nothing I can do. When I first came hear king Bhumibol would appear on TV regularly trying to educate farmers why they should not burn fields. He was probably the only person That could of stopped the burning, but nobody took his advice.

Where is mr Prayuth to protect the thai citizens?? His policemen won't stop those farmers....

It's not so much the farmers as the farm owners. Farmers follow orders. Burning off is the cheapest, fastest way to clear a plantation, so that's what the farm owners do. Who are the farm owners? Ah, that's a longer story...

Doing something because you're being paid to do it isn't the same as doing it because it's your duty; you really care; you want to make a difference; you want to improve the situation or help solve the problem.

Unfortunately, the issue then is the  water supply with it being contaminated. Both ground and ocean.

Do you know why the Thai environmental agency stopped reporting on water quality off of its main tourist beach areas?

He is saving all your lives. He is closing airport smoming rooms.
