  • Rumors are swirling that one of the parties will announce their candidate today and that when they do it will absolutely blow your mind.   The source of the rumour is extremely reliable but

  • We ALL know the voters don't count, it's who counts the VOTES that matters.

  • Well he has said what many think.... wonder if he will be getting a knock on the door!

Popularity does not come into it....IF true then this is endorsed....who would dare to challenge that endorsement?

it's the history that comes into play, and enough said from me...

It has been said once already, but as this is a fast moving topic I will politely repeat the previous post by @Crossy

Please be very, very careful how you discuss this.

Show stopper. We will know if it is just a rumor in 24 hours time.

I hope it's not. The country needs a show stopper.

It’s all over the Thai and English news now

I wonder what number will be allocated to the "candidate" !!

Didn't see anything on BBC website yet

Is the junta alliance falling apart? Somkid dropped out of the PM nomination and ACT announced they will not nominate any candidates. Junta fanboys here must be reeling from all these negative news.

If the rumor is true junta is about to receive a massive kick in the nuts. I'm loving it.

He should have bags packed and ready to go and not literally.

just to see this land free of these oppressive loons will just make so many people go nuts with jubilation

Two posts have been removed.

@Crossy has politely asked you to consider what you post. I have also asked the same. This is now your third warning. I will not repeat myself again.

If you cannot post discretely and instead post speculative comments or otherwise post negative references then your ability to post will be removed.

Please think before you post.

What about the separation of powers, an import bulwark in any functioning democracy?

I won't go so far as to quote the old "Absolute power..." axiom.

He can use the same guy that drove Yingluck.

Where.  I can't find any new links.

How anyone could even consider any of these people, who have proven to only want to loot the country, is beyond me. I can only hope that the Future Forward Party gets a sizable amount of votes, as it seems to be the only one fit to actually lead this country in a good direction.

Again if the rumors prove true, there's a far better farang-friendly option..

Just reading a new article in Khaosod.  Looks like many of the other candidates have already withdrawn and said they no longer wish to run for PM.

I can not find any reliable media reports in English, just twitters and facebook posts.

Personally, I think this is some sort of hoax or early April Fool's joke - but I'm happy to be found wrong.

Links to reliable news sources please.

Ok, so who the hell is it? Can someone PLEASE send me a PM because this is driving me crazy and I won't be able to go to sleep. I've gone through Facebook and Twitter and can't find any mention of a name.

Thank you for the link, but the article doesn't really confirm anything.

The candidates dropping out are doing so in favour of Prayuth - not the new "mystery" candidate.

Quote

Speaking to reporters, the deputy prime minister for economic affairs said he dropped out in order to make way for Prayuth to be the lone candidate.

“I only support one name: Gen. Prayuth,” Somkid said. “This is my answer. Don’t ask me again. It’s over. No need for interpretation.”

The Action Coalition for Thailand Party, which is aligned with Thaksin’s political opponents, also announced today it would not nominate anyone to be prime minister. The party said it would support Prayuth as the next premier if he runs.

Some time in the afternoon, a document purportedly showing the name of the would-be nominee was posted to the internet, but Thai Raksa Chart said it was a fake.
