Bangkok’s Chinatown, also known as Yaowarat, was lit up on Wednesday night with fireworks and a traditional dragon-dance featuring a specially made glittering dragon to mark the beginning of the Year of the Pig.

The performance, witnessed by hundreds of ethnic-Chinese Thais and tourists, was funded by Tri Petch Isuzu Co Ltd. The dragon, with its eyes and nails picked out in thousands of glittering crystals, was made of gold and silver fabric to represent wealth.
