MPs would have to decide on something else in order to avoid no-deal.

Yep. An extension to Article 50 seems inevitable now. Let's hope that it isn't as complicated as a visa extension.

How long would it take the EU to ‘unanimously’ agree to extend A50?
How long would it take Parliament to Amend the Act which set the Leave date of 29th March?
At only 44 days to go, have they all run out of time?

well, I find it somewhat odd to use the term inevitable,

it should be kept in mind that an extension requires the agreement of all 28 member states,

no small challenge.

 

would think that the UK needs to come up with some pretty convincing reasons

for extending the A50 period, should she so desire

EU can do that within hours if they agree to call a meeting of the Council of PMs/Heads of State.

 

A plague on all their houses. Guy Fawkes had it right, get rid of all the snout-in-trough politicians, ban party politics, and start afresh. Not just in UK.

It's May's plan to run out of time, forcing MPs to choose her deal over crashing out.  May's deal is an enormous let down for the Brexiteers as well as for the remainers and Britain ends up far worse off than with no Brexit at all.  But it is a Brexit of sorts and all the leave boys (Johnson, JRM etc) haven't come up with an alternative.  They just keep telling May to go back and do better!

 

"It's May's deal or a long delay" according to Ollie Robbins talking in a bar in Brussels.  That seems to be today's revelation.  No doubt tomorrow it will something else.

That's more of less what JRM said a fortnight ago.

Listening to LBC yesterday / today I'm hearing a lot of commentators close to the action suggesting the EU will eventually agree to make the necessary changes to the backstop. This despite the public statements to the contrary from the men in Brussels. Just Brussels brinkmanship?

 

This might explain why May is telling MPs to hold their nerve. Maybe she isn't banging her head against a brick wall after all!

Why wouldn't she? Pushing a dead horse. I think it's fairly obvious now thst leaving the EU is a dead option for the UK, it's all about logistics.
