Why do the Thai celebrate valentine anyway? It's not their culture and only abused for more sales.

 

It's about giving 1 rose to the person you secretly like a lot.....not about giving piles of cash or cars or whatever.

 

It's just like christmas that is abused for sales purposes only.

 

Dramatic effect. A bit like your title.

As are most things and "special days", spun for commercial gain.

Many were probably invented for that sole purpose.

Thais, and not only Thais, like to have a reason to drink.

And women obviously like to receive presents.

 

Does it all make sense? Obviously not. But then how about Christmas, etc. Same same, not much different.

It's an "planned/traditional" day to make someone feel special.....

My girls got Chocolate heart shaped boxed candy......My youngest's idea was a cake - which her & I ordered in the sly with our 4 names surrounding a heart.....Then we'll go out and have a nice dinner at one of our favorite places.....

The girls were up making homemade Valentine's day cards last night.....

 

It's fun & what you make it.....A nice step away from the daily routine....

 

And Thais like endearing holidays.....

We are in the middle of the hysterical gift-period: Christmas, New year, Chinese New Year, Valentine, Songkran.....

Just waiting for some new invention, like Mongolian new year to celebrate
