No, international law will save her. The UK can't make her stateless by law so she will bask under the shadow of the union Jack again. As with Brexit the government has jumped the gun without looking at the facts, they will be forced to reinstate her British nationality.

Maybe, but the government doesn't have to issue her a passport or travel documents. Just cancel the one she has if she has one and let her sit and pontificate on her decisions and actions. If she is allowed to return to the UK it will cost the taxpaying public 10's of millions of pounds in round the clock surveillance, social housing, and other welfare benefits. Let her enjoy her time in her new country. Let Assad deport her when he establishes full control. Of course, while she waits as his guest the UK still does not have to issue a passport or travel documents.

The ultimate right lies with the courts, not the government. Ultimately it will end up with the European Court of Human Rights, who will, undoubtedly find in her favour. However this normally takes years.

Was not one of the aims of Brexit was to dump the European Court of Human Rights???

Difference being Shamima Begum was born in the UK. Bangladesh claims she has never applied for citizenship and now will not be granted - fair enough!

The Home Office argues that she was born a Bangladeshi citizen - there is no need to apply for it.  Now, it seems that certain actions can automatically lose one Bangladeshi citizenship - but not while one is under 21!

IMO that's a play by the Home office. Have to wait and see if she ever gets a Court hearing.

The Home Office has been losing a string of cases where they've tried to strip ex-Bangladeshis of UK citizenship - G3, E3 and N3.

With May's deal we remain in the ECHR. With a no deal Brexit we would have to pass legislation to opt out of the ECHR but I haven't heard of any MPs suggesting that we would do that.

Yes the Home Secretary has acted like a complete grandstanding knob over this issue.

Grandstanding is what they do...

Shamima Begum has right to return to UK - Jeremy Corbyn

Shamima Begum, who left the UK to join the Islamic State group in Syria aged 15, has a "right to return to Britain", Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has said.

Ms Begum has had her UK citizenship revoked by Home Secretary Sajid Javid - a move Mr Corbyn said was "extreme".

Now would he be saying that if there had been a referendum in which over 50% voted for her not to be let back in???

The only deporting mr. Assad will be agreeable to is 6 feet under Syrian soil, I'm afraid...
