North Pattaya sewers  cleaned

PATTAYA:--Pattaya sanitation workers cleaned out sewers on Second Road that backed up sludge onto the street.

 

A work crew was out Feb. 20 near Central Marina shopping mall in North Pattaya.

 

Machines sucked out the pipes and workers scraped out remnants to get water flowing again. The Sanitation Department urged residents not to dispose of trash in the sewers.

The sewers are refuse containers for every and all. I have watched food vendors, bus drivers, taxi drivers, Thai, farang, on foot, on bikes, short, tall, well dressed and in a shambles; toss, throw, squash, kick, pour or otherwise dispose of all sorts of trash, garbage, waste and assorted items into them. Seemingly, there is little consequence in doing so and the uneducated thrive in this practice.

Well, at least they had a truck with a vacuum system to clean those sewers.  

I watched prison inmates crawl through the pipes themselves, during one cleanup in Bangkok.
