Do you want a visa to stay here permanently? You don't make it perfectly clear.

If so, forget married Visa - too much red tape and 400,000 no longer applies - have to show income.

Over 50, 800,000 - get non imm "OA" for purpose of applying to retire in Thailand

Enter Thailand and apply for year extension. 800,000 has to be deposited for 3 months before you apply.

As said the yearly extension based on marriage is a bit of a hasstle , takes 3 or 4 months to complete and requires a monthly income of 40,000 Baht.

Based on retirement is really simple and needs 800,000 in the bank for 3 months before application. The first oprion is possible but as it means a lot less work for the immigration authorities they seem to be bending over backwards to give out retirement extensions.

Given that statement, go for the retirement visa. :D

No hassle if the wife pops off before you do.

Also the lump sum in the bank works, which it does not if you are married.

Good luck.
