Video: Thais start throwing things after lady gives too few noodles!

A phone video that went viral on Facebook showed an "a la carte" food vendor in Bangkok arguing with a large man.

Some "fruity" language is exchanged including "na hee" (<deleted> face) and "ai sat" ( bl**dy animal).

A knife and a chair are also thrown in the altercation.

Thai Rath went to Soi Pracha Uthit 79 and caught up with the vendor called Mem who said that the incident happened at 1pm on Monday.

She said a woman came in to buy take-away fried noodles and complained when she put too few noodles in the dish.

Mem said it would be complete when she added the pork, vegetables and egg but the customer was still not satisfied and there was a minor argument before the lady left.

She thought that that was the end of it until the woman's boyfriend came in and started complaining.

That's when things got out of hand. She was sorry for throwing a knife but she said he was a big guy and she felt threatened.

She said that feeling has continued and she has shut her store since fearing retribution.

She went to Thung Khru police who said they were going to do nothing about it. They only filed the report.

Meanwhile the man in the video has said he will counter sue himself and wants to go after the person who put the footage online for "damaging his name".

The video - under the name Adisak Sornprasit who said he posted it for someone else - pulled no punches in comments saying that the man was a "hoodlum" who should be exposed.

The complaining woman should go to a western restaurant and

order a dish spaghetti. Way more 'noodles' than nam tok has.

Good luck with that buddy. Judges in a court only wants FACTS in front of them. What they don't like is people wasting their time with nonsense. This video won't do you any justice, and since it does already form part of the evidence, or is the ONLY evidence, you can't refuse it being played in court. Just put your tail between your legs and walk away quietly.

Chubby male should be happy she lightened his noodles.

Neat noodle freak show.  Funniest part was the threatened lawsuits.

Imagine that. For 30 baht she did not get enough noodles , that requires to leave and return with a boyfriend and love the climax , he can not afford 30 baht but will sue person who made the video ????????????

I thought the Thai way is to never lose your temper, and keep a cool head. At least that's the BS they tell us farangs.

Fragile Thai male ego on display again ..

Yep. He tries to through his weight around, showing his lady friend how important and what a big man he is. He threw something first and the also slashed out with the knife having picked it up.

Keystones not interested.

Now he smells some compensation from whoever posted the video, and presumably thinks it's a chance to regain face.

You misunderstand. That's how you must behave. It's their country and they can and do behave however they want. But you losing your temper won't be tolerated.

Then just buy more noodles. There is a reason its so cheap. Obviously it wont be much. Idiot. Dont be shy. Open your wallet and get some more.

Amazing Thailand.

Amazing how quickly and easily things can escalate to violence.

Thailand has been in turmoil for decades, compounded by the lack of leadership & policing for the last 5 years has resulted in social meltdown !

In Western pasta restaurants, I've noticed a correlation between price and pasta portion: the more expensive the restaurant, the smaller the portion of pasta.

I did ask about the smaller portion of pasta at upmarket restaurant. Reply was if the portion was any bigger, you would not have enough room for drinks and dessert which is where the larger portion of their profit was. Upmarket restaurants would expect the customer to order starter, entree, dessert as well as a drink or two.

Budget restaurant would be happy just to fill your stomach with a single dish as their customer base is just that . A one dish meal.

You can feel the underlying tension bubbling below the surface waiting to unleash at any moment. The vibrancy of the entire population since the takeover by the current regime did not auger well for Thai populace. Forthcoming general election did not help matters.  I would not place thailand’s Happiness index anywhere high up on the scale .

That is the face portrayed to the public. Given the face off between Buddhist calm and Muay Thai angst, Muay Thai wins every time.

This post cross refers    nicely with the other, currently popular topic,  about violence in thailand.
