I must say, 10 years in Bangkok and I never knew about this place. Only the commercial ones. I will do them this one favour and persuade one to go elsewhere tonight. 

That area has been going on for a good 40 years.  Probably a lot longer than that.  Caters to Thais, many who work in government offices nearby.  Also a big business on the last Friday (payday) of the month and noon time during the week which has many of the little "love hotels" see a brisk trade.  

Are there still jackfruit trees around Sanam Luang? Does no one else remember the Pee Khanoon girls (and some considerably older than girls!)?

I think it’s nice everywhere, and it can be quite savory
