Somkid and Democrat deputy leader Korn in war of words

A war of words has broken out between Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak and Democrat party deputy leader Korn Chatikavanich over Democrat leader Abhisit Vejjajiva’s recent plea to voters to reject General Prayut Chan-o-cha’s as post-election prime minister.

While addressing senior executives of state enterprises at a business forum on Wednesday, Dr. Somkid said, without mentioning the Democrat party by name, that he didn’t understand why a party leader had to repeat the same announcement three times.

“Having announced the boycott twice, now another boycott – but not boycott of the election, but a claim that he (Prayut) shouldn’t be the prime minister,” said the deputy prime minister, adding “this Constitution was written in a way that provides for a coalition government – which is understood.  (I) don’t know who wrote the Constitution, but there will definitely be a coalition government between a core party and a few other parties.”

The poor deputy PM does not get the idea of electioneering.

I guess it was not in the list of things they thought would happen when they called an election. Now he will go running to the EC to claim the Democrats have broken an election law they cannot find just now. (Well it has worked several time already this election)

Got to say the repartee was raw and viscous. Somkid schooled Ahbisit for his previous election boycotts and Korn unkind swap at the appointed senators that will do the bidding for Prayut. No love lost between these two and perhaps drive the wedge deeper between Ahbisit and Prayut. Score one for the anti Prayut side.

Will he also say that he didn't know that there was a General Prayut-led military coup in 2014 that abolished the 2007 Constitution and that's how he became Prayut's DPM?
