BANGKOK, 15 March 2019 (NNT) - The Air Force has sent cloud-seeding planes to participate in a royal rainmaking operation for 2019 to relieve the people’s woes during dry season.

Deputy Air Force Commander-in-Chief ACM Charnrit Plikanon presided over a ceremony to dispatch 24 aircrafts to 11 drought-affected provinces to assist this year’s royal rainmaking operations.

The planes include 12 cloud-seeding aircraft, three BT-67 planes, six AU-23A planes and three Alpha jets.

The royal rainmaking project was introduced to Thailand by His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej to alleviate drought problem in Thailand’s rural area, enabling farmers to harvest without disruption.
