Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, who is also leader of the National Council of Peace and Order, said on Tuesday that he will stop delivering his weekly televised speech from March 29 onwards.

His programme, known as the King’s Philosophy for Sustainable Development, is broadcast on every Friday evening.

“I will speak just one more time,” Prayut said on Tuesday after emerging from a Cabinet meeting. “I have already shared my vision, my viewpoints and my work approach via this programme for about five years now. Many have asked when I will stop. My answer is on March 29.”

After March 29, his weekly televised speech will be replaced by announcements about the preparations being made for His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s coronation.

His Majesty has reigned over Thailand since the passing of his father, King Rama IX, in 2016.

With all the bad press about election irregularities of late, it is indeed nice to have something to make the whole nation happy once more. If only he had never started in the first place, what with his shit awful songs and utter claptrap which anyone with a third of a brain could work out was a pile of lies and propaganda.

So he is 'returning happiness to the Thai people' at last.

he should've announced that before the election, then he would've won by a comfortable margin!

Without even having to cheat. Could have been the best promise by a politician ever.

Does this mean the National Council of Peace and Order will also be shut down, handing the responsibility for maintenance of good order and discipline back to the RTP?

How long will he keep his article 44 privileges?

Asked, pleaded... potayto potahto. But after a final earbashing on Friday, it's a return of happiness to the airwaves.

I'll miss his crooning.

many hoped for his TV spot to end many years ago. good things really do come to those who wait.

Promises, promises. Another reason I don't have cable TV (leaving only Channel 3 out of the air TV).

I used to watch this show in the beginning. It was an interesting show for a few weeks.

I went away for a year. Mr Prayut was saying the same apologies when I returned.

No one in the village listened to him anymore.

In fact the villagers made their own point by playing Thai music

from very large loud speakers (and I mean Loud speakers) at this time every Friday night.

The election results have disappointed my village people overall.

Not so much me, at least they got the chance to vote.
