I'm on a Non-B visa (now with 1 year extension which will expire on July) and I understand that leaving Thailand without a re-entry permit would mean losing the validity of my extension of stay. I'm leaving for Taipei for work on 15 April and will be back in Bangkok on 27 April. Three days after that (30 April) I'll be going back to the Philippines for good. Do I still need a re-entry permit when I leave for Taipei? Or it's no longer necessary as I can get a visa on arrival anyway when I come back? Considering I'll be leaving Thailand again after 3 days. Thanks!

If you want to keep the extension valid you need the re-entry permit. If you don't care you can enter visa exempt or with visa on arrival, depending on your nationality.

Thanks, Steven. I don't really intend to keep the validity of my extension. So yeah, I can re-enter visa exempt.

Per the rules, you should cancel your extension on your last day of work in Thailand, as that is when your extension becomes invalid.  Your company can provide a letter with the date in the future, so you don't have to be "at immigration" on that day.

If you will never work here again, it may not matter - but if you did, best to have done everything "by the book" on your last work-based extension.  Ideally your job would set your last day as 30 April (on the letter), you'd submit this, and get a re-entry permit, and not have to worry about any issues with immigration upon your last entry, or in the future.

Things change. I'd get a re entry permit for the Taiwan trip. You never know if you will come back some day. Thb 1,000 forpeace of mind.
