If you want to date Thai's, you're going to have to accept their culture... You can't change it. We came to THEIR country... not vice versa.

Oh, and I agree with jdinasia... In the USA now, If I ask a guy out.. then I pay. If he asks me out, I expect him to pay. In Thailand, if he asks me out and he's younger and less wealthy than me.. I still pay. It's just cultural..... TIT.

Wow I thought this thread had died...well in response I guess it also depends on the guys you want to date. Several months into the dating scene I decided to remove myself from Soi 2-4 (except for occasional social alcoholism) and things have been right as rain ever since. All manner of men here do have modern/westernized conceptions about dating. They ask you out first, they pay on occasion, and some will even call you the next day if you do not bed them on the first night. No love connections for me yet but I am not that desperate either and besides dating is way more fun than a mediocre relationship...

Keep your standards up guys! (...and that goes for you local boiz too! Do you really want that 57 year-old flip-flop wearing-booze bag?) Relationships that start off with iffy motives on either side or unequal footings always end up one way- in messy pieces on the floor.
