good morning all, I am semi retired, spend half the year in Thailand , house in sankhaemphang, I've had a Thai motorbike licence for 4 years now , 2 year expiry, renewed once, however this year it falls due early may, and I won't be back till late June, Is that ok, ?Is there a grace period for renewal ?

Any help appreciated, thank you Songhklasid.

If you have that kind of problem just use a different DLT office. You can use any one you like.

There are only 2. Ping River and Hang Dong

In Chiang Mai - seeing as how this is the Chiang Mai Forum

Go to Udon Thani ? 555

It makes no difference which is the nearest DLT office. As I said you can use any office anywhere in Thailand

ok, thanks, 1 month over, should be straightforward same as renewal on time

cheers SS.

You didn't write, if you have a 2-year or a 5-year licence now, but when you stayed here on a tourist visa you most likely only got a 2-year licence as renewal. These ones don't have a grace period, only the 5-year-ones.

DLT in Chiang Rai renewed my two-year licences with five year licences (backdated to the due date) when they were several months overdue.

You have a year's grace on an expired license to do a renewal- if it's expired over a year, you have to re-take some tests, but you won't have that issue.

From another member's post on a recent thread:

Hi

I am also renewing my 5 yr while back on vacation this year

Was wondering...The list you show did not mention a doctors physical paper? Is that no longer needed?

Thanks

Not for renewal of 5-year license. A medical certificate is not required.

  • Thanks 1
