And they own which hotels?

He has his opinion, agree with it or not, and he is in his own way trying to do something about things he doesn't like. That can only be applauded.

I agree, however the same can be said of the Sultan.

Include "Royal Air Brunei" for that matter; Clooney is absolutely right.

Shut down the eliterian oligarch sultan, what a medieval representative of the world's most evil brainwashing under the name of their goat sh"ç%"*çing religion with slaughtering practices bleeding animals to death.

I'm not gay, lesbian or anything in between and I think the whole issue of "gender" correctness has been blown completely out of proportion but stoning .........

The world is going absolutely crazy and the result are such sick, sick, sick bastards, loaded with money they never earned; if he likes sharian law then just live according to those brainsick regulations but leave your people and the rest of the planet in peace.

P.S. You forgot to call me a conspiracist.

Stop all the B.S.  It's pretty simple.

Either you support Brunei's Shariah law penalties, and are fine with that.

Or you think they're repugnant, are willing to stand up and say so, and act accordingly.

Which is it?

Why stick with Brunei? Half the countries on the planet have terrible laws and the others have awful laws.

Surely if one doesn't like Brunei's laws, one must oppose all the rest of the countries with similar?

In any case the thread is about George Clooney, and our opinions of him have been pretty well expressed so far.

I agree with that entirely. Any country that wants to stone its citizens to death for alleged adultery or gay relationships deserves similar scorn.  Is there anyone suggesting otherwise?

Well, George Cooney seems quiet on Saudi. Perhaps he thinks it's OK if they stone people to death there.

Left/Globalist tag is really a confusing one which bubbles up from the bowels of the internet.

By definition, if you are on ‘the left’ you are anti free trade, big on tariffs and all sorts of protectionism. They are suspicious of globalisation, corporations and the power that gets concentrated in the hands of a few as a result. You don’t like migration as that undermines the rights of the workers through supressed wages.

If you dont agree with this, then you are certainly not of ‘the left’.

So the whole ‘globalist/left’ tag is really just some made up tag by the new ‘angry people’ of the web, making up BS tags. The whole point of course, is to come up with a new term of insult which means everything to them, but nothing to everything else.

Its the internet equivalent of Americans calling something they don’t understand ‘socialist’, even when it isn’t.

The irony of it all, is that if you are against globalisation, then without doubt, you are a paid up lefty.

I think there's a difference between the "left" and the center left, which is almost indistinguisable from the center right. Fact is the far left has more in common with the far right than it does the centrists. The political continuum looks more like a circle than a straight line. The globalists are in the center (not middle class mind you) where they think the votes are. The left and the right are the folks the globalists are leaving behind so they're gonna find some common ground, or at least they ought to if they can pull their heads out of their asses.

So, what right wing political leader or politician is there who really opposes these "globalists"? Who doesn't want to shower them with massively reduced taxes? Who doesn't want to lessen regulations that govern the financial industry?

Your allegatons are just ignorance masquerading as cynicism because cynicism is easy. It doesn't require familiarity with facts. Far easier to stick with amorphous generalizations.

I don't think there are any American right wing political leaders are there?  Mostly center right and a few nutjobs.

Strange conclusions.

He has his opinions and is acting on those. Nothing at all to do with his special needs.

It would be so much easier if posters would give up on the 'tags' that fit their ideas - but have nothing to do with reality.

Same with supposed 'left wing' politicians..... which is why trump was able to become president....

But this is completely off topic.

Brunei has come out with a new, horrendous law - and everyone needs to know this.

Saudi deserves the same, including for their recent murder of an American journalist.  Which Trump has been totally unwilling to do anything about despite being pressed by Congress.

In the case of Brunei, the U.S. and its president ought to be at the forefront of the fight against this kind of barbarism, but it appears they are not.  Trump at least ought to be motivated by the adultery part, of which he has considerable experience.

What the U.S. should have said is something like this:

Quote

Richard Branson
"This abhorrent, inhuman and medieval piece of legislation has no place in the 21st century."

The use of phrases like center, center left, center right is next to meaningless. How are the so called center right politicians of the republican party not far right? They say rising levels of CO2 in the atmosphere is not a threat. That despite repeated failures to accomplish what was promised, they pass tax cuts that benefit mainly the wealthy. They try to defund Planned Parenthood. These are now mainstream Republican positions. Not so long ago this would have been considered far right craziness. It's only because there a few even more extreme ones that positions that were once considered suitable only for far right extremists,  are now considered center-right. The Republican party is mostly a far right party. And Trump is their far right leader.

I'd buy that if you'll grant that most Democrats are center right. It's all relative.
