Registration Child Dual Nationality At Amphur

Hi,

I am a Belgian citizen married with a Thai lady. The marriage took place in Belgium in 2003. Since December 2006 she also obtained Belgian citizenship. We have a 7 months old daughter who also has dual citizenship. She was born in Belgium and already has a Thai birth certificate and a Thai passport. We would like to register her at the Amphur in april to get her a Thai ID card.

Does anyone has experience with this and could advise us which paperwork is involved?

Does our marriage has to be registered as well before we can do this?

Are there any advantages of registering our marriage in Thailand?

As far as the ID card for your daughter, she can't get one until she's 15 or 16.

If your wife is on a house registration here, just add your daughter to that.

Thanks TerryLH

My wife is on a house registration in Thailand. Does that mean that all Thai children do not get an ID card before the age of 15/16?

But she can get a Thai passport after getting her on the house registration.

You can’t register your marriage a second time, but you should get your Belgian marriage certificate translated into Thai.
