BANGKOK, 1 April 2019 (NNT) - The Director-General of the Department of Trade Negotiations, Auramon Supthaweethum, said Thailand exported fruits worth 2.65 billion US dollars in 2018, a 17 percent increase year-on-year, driven by the country’s free trade agreements (FTA) with the ASEAN, China, Japan, South Korea, India, Australia, New Zealand, Peru, Chili, and Hong Kong.

Ms. Auramon said the ASEAN and China are the main markets for Thai fruits, accounting for 2.13 billion US dollars or about 80 percent of the total value of Thai fruit export last year.

The top three export items are durian, Longan, and mangosteen.

I wished they also imported fruit from other asian countries....malaysia has also very nice durians (mao shan wang) which taste very different, more like coffee/chocolate. Also indonesia has loads of fruit that we have never seen here in thailand.

The Thai farmers must be selling their goods for close to nothing to be competitive....all due to the over inflated Thai Bhat that is traded at an unrealistically high rate.

Yes that’s the stink bomb fruit, we were at a hotel last week & there were posters prohibiting the fruit, not that I had any!

Durian is still expensive in Thailand, if they can't get a good price overseas they better sell it here.

Why not ? Be open experience the fruit. OK it smells, but so what. I love it now.

You have to dare to eat it despite the smell. Dont be a sissy.

Many fruits i like from Thailand, but fruits for me, have to be sweet and juicy.

There are also fruits hard and not sweet, my Thai gf likes.

I can also recommend lampada, jack fruit (one of my favourite),  noi na, dragon fruit.

Less known is soursop (  Guanabana) a very fresh, little sour fruit. This fruit also seems to work well on your body, as cancer preventing.

Why would i eat an imported apple? SO much more other lovely fruits in Thailand.

For me its party time being in Thailand with all those lovely fruits.

SAdly they prices rices of fruit in Thailand, as i see now 17 % more export.

Farmers will not get rich. I wonder if selling at  local market is not better for them.

Yha ok if someone comes and buy all your crops, it is worth it. You dont have to worry about decay of the fruit and selling it before that.

Even big companies from China flow in to grow fruit for export, even working with Chinese workers (how is that possible).
