Yes, and this is what make it so dangerous because the ordinary dust masks which is common used all over Thailand doesn't give any protection for particles of that size ...

Rather stupid to blame the buyer of the crops, while the farmers burn the remains of former crops without any care for the people.

Thais will always lay the blame at the foot of those who have money (the company).

Why don't they just plow the remains under, seems to be better for the land also.

The farmers don't care. Burning is the lazy, cheap, easy way. They also lack large plows and the Govt sure isn't going to pay for these. Would you plow the field if you only had a buffalo?

Can facemasks help reduce the negative health impacts of air pollution?

Risks and risk reduction

Air pollution is made up of particles and gases. Gases include ozone, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide and a large group of chemicals known as volatile organic compounds (VOCs). While gases can have harmful effects, research indicates that we should be most concerned about negative health impacts of fine particles – those under 2.5 microns in size.

So are facemasks effective in reducing or preventing air pollution exposure? Their ability to limit exposure depends on the type of pollutant, the mask itself and how it’s used. Masks are assigned a protection factor, which is the percentage of a pollutant that the mask does not remove. A protection factor of 10 means that all but 10% of the pollutant is filtered out by the mask, assuming that the mask fits tightly on the face.

Simple paper dust masks are largely useless when it comes to lessening air pollution exposure.

With other words, those simple paper dust masks which is common used by Thais and as well Chinese doesn't help at all against airpolution ...

What does the term fake society even mean?

wow, you added a lot... geez... picky, picky, picky.

Two years ago I tried to help some friends giving them a N95 mask explaining the importance of a tight-fitting mask, but they all switched back to the "doctors fashion mask".

I learned it many times now and I am better now just not to say anything and just smile.
