Have you purchased something from the Thai online Apple store – Advice on payment options

I am looking at buying several things from the online Apple store ( Thailand ) . The total cost of the items would be over 30,000 Baht . I cannot use my Bangkok Bank debit card to purchase the items as the debit card has a maximum daily withdrawal amount of 20,000 Baht , and I do not want to increase that amount.  I do not have any credit cards.

I cannot see any other options to pay for the items except this one ….

ATM Bank Transfers

ATM Bank Transfer payments can be made using your Pay In Slip via ATM machines at the following banks: Siam Commercial Bank, Krungthai Bank, and Bangkok Bank.

Soon after payment is made, Apple will send you an Order Confirmation email with estimated delivery dates.

Your Pay In Slip will expire 3 days after your order is placed and your order will be automatically cancelled if no payment has been received by the expiry date. You can place a new order at any time.

Admin fee may be charged by bank/processing entity in addition to order value.

I’m a bit confused on how this option works , can some one please explain :wai:

I use my Bangkok Bank debit card to pay for all my Apple products online. You need to add you card to your Apple ID paying options, and up your daily payment limit by calling 1333.

Yup, you can’t pay by debit card.

Yeah, it’s a rather confusing.

I brought an iPad .. it said ATM transfers were available at my bank so I printed off the sheet and attempted to scan it at the atm, it didn’t work .. the manager tried to do it, nope, and suggested I paid at the counter.

So, I waited in the queue, handed over my slip, the teller scanned it and asked for the cash .. huh? I thought I we can transfer it. That’s the whole point.

I returned to the ATM, withdrew the cash and paid.

By the time I got home there was an email saying that apple had received payment and delivery date, and was delivered by DHL.

My card is accepted and registered for my iCloud subscription and apps, but doesn’t seem to be an option for hardware.

I will buy a spec’d up iMac next month, i guess it will be a similar routine.

ATS: Our options look limited, to one method, it’s crazy isn’t it. I have to leave my home, print off a sheet, withdraw cash to buy a something in the internet.

Buying an Imac online , are you not worried about it breaking while being thrown about by the delivery people . I sent mine to Bangkok for repair and it arrived with a dented casing and cracked screen.

Apple does a pretty decent job with packaging.    Possibly they set out to challenge the Thai delivery people?

Yup, they have a contract with DHL - Whilst I wouldn’t pay to send or receive stuff via customs, when I have received apple products via DHL they looked as if had just packed it out the back. Not a scratch on the box itself.

I think I am right in saying it only comes from Singapore.

If you wanted an upgraded model and bought it at a shop, it would still be made in Singapore, delivered to the shop by DHL and then you and pick it up, I don’t see any difference myself .. less grief and one less step.

You need to go to an ATM and follow the instructions there to pay for the goods (the exact steps depend on the bank, I have no experience with those of Bangkok Bank).

But if you have a daily spending limit of 20,000 baht then I imagine this payment limit is also enforced when doing ATM payments.

So you really need to increase your limit, you can always restore it after the purchase.

Hmmmm .. I ordered a an iPad mini for the wife. I had always had good experiences buying online from apple. The iPhones had always been delivered by DHL, who have a degree of professionalism.

I was surprised to see the tracking number was from UPS, I didn’t know there was a UPS depot in my city, but never mind.

This afternoon my local Kerry delivery man delivered the iPad .. huh?

Again, the box was immaculate, like it had been just pulled from a shelf in Singapore and handed to me .. but I was really surprised that apple allows the last mile delivery to be subcontracted.

I’m sure DHL have rules regarding the delivery of their packages, but we have this guy well trained, he can stand at the gate and launch parcels into the bed of the “rot puang” (side car) .. I’m glad we were in today to receive the parcel.
