SYDNEY (Reuters) - Multiple people have been shot outside a nightclub in the Australian city of Melbourne, police said on Sunday.

Two men were in hospital in critical condition, police said, while two other men had non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting occurred outside a nightclub in the southeastern Melbourne suburb of Prahran about 3:20 a.m. on Sunday, police said.

A police spokeswoman said by telephone that there was no suggestion the attack was terror-related at this stage.

The Age newspaper reported one of the wounded was a guard who was shot in the face in what the report described as a drive-by shooting outside the Love Machine nightclub.

Police were investigating but no arrests have yet been made.

Considering the name most likely a strip joint and drive by was over some drug dealings or territory turf.

Actually you couldn't be further off the mark.

Love Machine is a stylish nightclub and multi-purpose entertainment venue on 3 floors, featuring two bars, exclusive VIP areas, appearances by local & international artists and celebrities.

Popular with the mixed/gay crowd. Love Machine hosts ‘Gossip Sundays’, featuring talented DJ’s, dancers and shows. The venue also organises social events and private parties.

Security guard has died, was shot in the face.

Links to an outlaw motorcycle gang are being investigated by detectives who believe the gang has made extortion attempts on the nightclub.

Looks like this club is in an area not frequented by youngsters. Sign in the picture say "40 area".

The Australian city of Melbourne.....???

Its probably the biggest city in Australia ,why put the nations name at the start.

I lived in Prahan and St Kilda for years. Night clubs spring up in and around Chapel st all the time due to high density population of young people and travellers.

Never ending problems expecially in the early morning. Been like this since the 1980's. Nothing will ever change there.

Rebel & Bandidos motorcycle gangs are brazen because the police are useless. Drugs are a big problem in the nearby housing commission flats and spill over into Chapel st and lanes.

Violence in Prahan is old news.

Nothing to see here.

Not sure your right in portraying Prahran that way.Its a very expensive location bordering exclusive Toorak South Yarra St Kilda Road. High end restraunts, retail shopping and food markets.A formerly poorer area but now considered a trendy near city residential location.I too lived there in the 80,s in Queens Rd opposite Albert Park golf course.Oz have along with strict gun laws, very strong anti bikegang laws and to say police are useless in this area is quite incorrect.Melbourne currently has a huge problem with young African gangs who entered Oz as refugees.

For sure huge problem - LOL 1% of all crimes committed by South Sudanese gangs, who also comprise NZ nationals and Pacific islanders. BTW now slowing down as offenders across all non Australian citizens being deported.

We don't go to public places or use public transport because of the African gangs controlling the streets of Melbourne. We have fortified our home to keep them out and venture out if we really need to.  Melbourne isn't a safe place.

people born in Sudan and South Sudan, who make up just 0.14 per cent of Victoria's population being responsible for 1% of the crime in the area. Enough with all the PC crap.  Send Big joke to Oz,  I hear he is available.

OK millions have fortified their homes and terrified to go out. All the entertainment / hospitality industry has closed, the bars are empty etc etc etc all 'cause of a few gangs - I believe you - LOL
