That sounds like the same storm that ht us in Phits (at about 21:00) last night. Didn't last long with us but it was really heavy winds for the time it was here.

I heard earlier that there were power outs over on the other side of Phits at about the same time; Central had to abandon a planned concert they had programmed for the closing of Songkran for this year.

JUnk construction easily damaged. Just  look at the  common building blocks, concrete (  well just about enough cement in them to  call them  that) and not even 3  inches  thick.

I tend to agree. Most "old" houses in my small village are concrete walls and double screwed tin sheet roof.

They survive everything.

But newer buildings are the cheap cement bricks and cheap roofing with minimum screws.

Now for controversy.

Most of Thailand is in drought now. Only a few severe storms over the "dry season" in most areas.

And the storms this monsoon may be more severe. Is your lodging up to scratch. Cheers, I love the thunderstorms and our house is well built.

I  personally laid  every  block myself, mixed every batch of cement and  double block   skinned  the walls tying them into each other for strength and insulation.

Err, immigration may not want to know that you built the house. You can fudge how you say things.

Such as "I oversaw the construction and helped out a bit to show the technique"

Then we all understand your compliance with Thai law.

I was visited by Thai Immigration by a Thai Immigration Lawyer.

He took photos of the bedroom, living room and front of house.

But he quizzed all the neighbours as to what work I was doing.

They said truthfully that I did not work for an income.

But he was itching to bust me. Take care what you post mate.
