LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's Conservative Party will demand a clear timetable for Prime Minister Theresa May's departure but will not change the rules governing leadership challenges, the chair of the party's influential 1922 Committee said on Wednesday.

May survived a confidence vote in December and under the party's rules cannot be challenged again for 12 months. But many of the party's lawmakers and members have become increasingly frustrated over her handling of Brexit and have called for a way to force her out sooner.

The executive of the so-called 1922 Committee, which groups Conservative lawmakers, met on Tuesday and then again on Wednesday to discuss whether to change the leadership rules.

"We determined there should not be a rule change to remove the 12 month period of grace during which a second confidence vote cannot be held," Graham Brady, the committee's chair, told reporters after the meeting.

May has said she will step down if her Brexit deal, which has already been rejected three times, is passed by parliament but has not set out what she will do if it is not.

Brady said the committee would ask May for "a clear roadmap" for her departure if a Brexit deal is not approved.

The reality is probably more like they still want someone to blame it all on - and she really made that role her own with her decisions and actions!

What is worrying is many relatively young and well educated people I know are leaning more and more towards commie Corbyn and his Momentum mates. They really believe his <deleted> that he can deliver a wonderful fair utopia socialist society; and that giving up our Nuclear weapons won't diminish us a world power and re-nationalizing certain industries and transport will make them work better, more cost effective and efficient. They are in for one hell of a disappointment if they ever elect this anti UK loony left extremist nutter to power.

Dark days looming for the UK. Sad to see.

Exactly. They all understand the dilemma they’re in. None of them would be able to get a majority for a no-deal Brexit from parliament, let alone take the responsibility of letting the country crash out without a deal. None of them would be able to get a different deal from the EU either. They all understand they would end up in the very same situation May is in.

Ousting her now would be symptomatic for Brexit though: making decisions without having a plan for what happens after. I would be laughing my ass off if they ousted her just to end up in another impasse of not finding a new PM because no one wants be the poor scapegoat she is now.

Salient points from an Interesting debate on GMB a few mins ago:

- All remain parties to unite under one banner to counter Farage's Brexit party.

- The Tories will be routed in the EU elections which should see May gone in June & certainly before the party conference.

- Matt Hancock being touted as a contender for PM as he is only 40 and seen as a new generation which is what is felt needed.

All of the above were suggestions. Whether they happen or not remains to be seen & I should add as an afterthought that the reason the latest 1922 coup failed is because they didn't want May's replacement to feel they should be constantly looking over their shoulder.

They are all running so scared now. They thought they had maligned and vilified UKIP into indifference, but they didn’t account for Nigel Farage under a new banner.
The Brexit Party will rout them all with MEPs. Next stop will be for Brexit to rout them at a GE too. There will be no calls for a vote of no confidence for a while.

A reminder that the 2nd XI remain busy while Farage hogs the limelight:

In denial again I see.

i cannot deny farage has formed a party, how well it does is far too early to say but it wont rout anything,he formed it because brexit isnt happening which is good and once it sinks in people will welcome the return to normality and wont want a return to chaos and uncertainty, polls will show its popular like they usually do for something thats new and different but its votes at the GE that matter and many will revert back to Labour, tories even that other new party thats pro breixit or maybe your true hero tommy's party.whoops i forgot to mention Ukip????

Brexit LIVE: Farage says Brexit Party to stand in next General Election 'massive change

I’ll happily vote for either Farage or UKIP, dependant on the job at hand. Initially for Brexit in the MEP polls next month, maybe a tactical UKIP vote later. I’d even vote for Tommy if he had a party - the further right, the better!

May is Britain's equivalent of a suicide bomber. Let's hope she self-detonates before she can take the rest of us with her.

What is the alternative to  hope less  non chance .

UK is finished . Not proud to be british ..
