Most Thai laborers are expecting that the minimum wage will be adjusted up to at least 400 baht when the new post-election government comes into the office, according to Bangkok Poll of the research centre of Bangkok University.

Currently, there are seven rates of minimum wage in Thailand, with the maximum rate at 330 baht/day in Bangkok, Phuket, Chon Buri and Rayong provinces and the lowest rate at 308 baht/day.

Bangkok Poll gauged the opinions of 1,160 Thai laborers in Bangkok and its peripherals about the minimum wage and their expectations.

Exactly.. Our 4 staff get 300 baht/day...  That's an elderly chef, 2 waitresses and a general helper girl. They are happy with that and my wife gives them bonuses depending on how things are

All 4 are unqualified and I think would be struggling to get work ?

In a separate poll;   the new government expects Thai laborers to shut the hell up.

Hell, I've been paying my once-a-week Burmese house keeper 500 a day for over a year now.

$15-20 for a full days labour sounds like a pretty good deal to me, especially as its only a one day a week casual job. If she's reliable I wouldn't be complaining too loudly.  Hard to find good ones.

She's been with us over two years. More like family than hired help.

The proles have no business complaining. They should be grateful for the opportunity to help keep Thailand’s elite awash with money and living in luxury.

Good for you. The wife always pays well above the minimum to any casual help.

Of course it will be adjusted upward to 400 THB for Khon Thai
Happiness to Thai People!!!
But then the companies will start hiring Myanmar workers for 308 to 330 THB / day (or less) to do "the jobs Thais refuse to do."

Still haven't figured out how multinational corporations function?  <laugh>

What inflation.  All the Western governments, their allies, and those who wish to be like them are insisting that 'inflation' is low, low, low, low as it can go.  "It's so low, we wish it would go up!!!"  <fingers crossed behind back as they cook the statistics base on absurd assumptions>

papa pays B250

per weekly cleaning

1-hour maybe 1.5-hr.

Small condo.

She building janitor, making ~B10K/month here.

B500 bonus/tip happy-new-year and

Songkran.  [covers her bus fare home]

She monthly washes & starts the car & bike

when outside of country.

Valuable extra security IMO.

I think B400/day would be good.

You only have to look at the steady rise of fuel at the pumps to see it and that affects everything no matter what Governments want to tell you the real cost of living is rising and a rise for workers will also be passed on. A lot of those workers will ay they will be getting the new rate as well, they will have a choice of course, carry on as now or get a new job and when you are approaching the magic 40 years there is no option, no alternative job.

I wouldn't really consider that the same thing are you saying you pay someone 500 baht to come clean your house all day?  Most of us pay that for a couple hours given they must travel as well.

yes in Australian the minimum wage for a 16 year old is 204 baht per hour

how much in Thailand ?

Its not just the fast food chains, the supermarkets as well, my step daughter gets about 250 baht a day, have trouble finding out as they take her on and off the books and never any pay slip, its very difficult to stay silent, but in a small town work is hard to find.

This will be Good news for all the Cambodian Mymar and Other e Foreign people who do most of the Building and hard work in Thailand,

Minimum wage per 8 hour day in Thailand is 300 baht. I have never heard of a minimum per hour and I don't see why you are posting about Australia on a Thai forum.
