The Future Forward party is hitting back at maverick political activist Srisuwan Janya in retaliation for the latter’s campaign against the party, including the latest petition to the Election Commission to disqualify 11 candidates for alleged media shareholding.

The complaint was lodged with the Thung Song Hong police station today by the 11 Future Forward candidates, accusing Srisuwan of making false allegations against them regarding their alleged share ownerships.

Representing the group, Mr. Karom Prompornklang, an MP-elect, told the media that he used to be a shareholder in a media firm, but the company folded six years ago. A few others also used to be shareholders in media firms which, in reality, are dormant companies which have never engaged in the media business, said Mr. Karom.

Surely the computer crimes act would come into play here too. The allegations by the activist do not have to stand the test of truth but just have to published on the internet. Add to that there is criminal libel, these folk are not using all the tools available to them.

It would be a low blow but seeing how Phubet from Sakhon Nakhon was disqualified just before the election for owning stocks in a construction company that used a legal framework which in theory allowed said company to run media too... it would only be fair to disqualify every candidate from every party who is in the same situation. According to the news a bunch of FFP,  PPP, PTP etc members would be affected. Somehow I doubt that the EC will disqualify the 'good people ' candidates for the very same 'offense'.

It would be better if EC and court admitted that the disqualification was in error, and that likewise the attempts to stick this to the party as whole are a mistake.  That they realize they should use the intend of the law (preventing politicians with actual active media businesses from influencing the public) rather than applying this law strictly to the letter and only to those who are not 'Khon dee'. But knowing the track record of bias these and previous ECs and courts...

Times up Srisuwan. You promised allegations against Phalang Pracharat for alleged media share ownership yesterday. Admit it that you just a junta lackey.

He has already submitted them. But probably only as an attempt at showing that he is neutral. He should be charged with wasting time with all his frivolous suits.

He submitted like 1 against PPP ? It would surprise me if pretty much only progressive or anti junta candidates made all these errors and the PPP candidates being 99% clean and in the clear...

Edit: he filed one complaint against PPP: "Prominent social activist Srisuwan Janya yesterday also filed the same complaint regarding Chanwit with the EC. "

That candidate didn’t win the seat. Kind of much ado about nothing.

So, if you own shares in a company which has a subsidiary which prints a magazine (shall we say 'British Conker world' ) you should be disqualified? Most wouldn't even know the company has a media offshoot ......

Insane. Would it still be safe to even own shares in a tracker fund?

Hopefully this will no longer be news after the election results are announced this week. No matter if the charges are true or not the current leadership will keep throwing charges until something sticks or they are firmly placed at the head of the trough!

the charges have nothing to do with owning shares of any type of company...it's just a way for them to claim wrong doing by the competition and distract people's attention from the reality ....fake news
