Thai dentists are great! Thai man goes from goofy to babe magnet in two years!

Thai Rath was full of praise for the skill of Thai dentists after a young Thai man went on Facebook to show his before and after pictures.

Warissakorn Sangkoh went from being goofy - and hardly able to even chew his food - to a babe magnet in only two years!

The Worawit Clinic in Bang Khae near the temple or Wat Prasee were credited with turning the young man's life around.

He paid 7,000 baht a first for the retainer to be fitted along with cleaning and fillings. He was warned that it would take three years for the work to be completed.

In the two years since then he has paid a further 1,500 baht a month for ongoing treatment.

Thai Rath said Thai dentists were out of the ordinary.

My experiences with Thai dentists have been exemplary.

My first was at a clinic in CM, where I had extensive restorative work carried out at a fraction of the cost in Australia.

All work carried out by specialists in their area of expertise.

Earlier this year I face planted onto tiles, causing trauma which required rebuilding and restoration. I expected the work to be painful,  and to take extended time, however it was not painful (good anaesthesia) and carried out over several long sessions by a professor of dentistry , a prosthodontist,  and expert dental assistants.

I have been warned about the expertise of Thai dentists by some dentists in Australia, but the specialist care, the equipment, the speed of the repairs and the end product has been beyond expectation, and so affordable by comparison.

After having some disastrous results from the previous country where I lived I was a bit suspicious of Thai dentists.
But on the contrary after some root canal work and a crown, along with regular checkups/cleaning etc I have found the dentist I use ( Ayutthaya ) to be helpful, professional and inexpensive.

Me too, broke my jaw above the two front teeth, teeth and bone forced back into my mouth, and snapped both eye teeth in half. Fixed at Siam Dental Hospital (corner of inner ring and Chang Puak), about 5-6 visits, total cost around 3,500bht. (glued my jaw back into position, rebuilt the eye teeth with filler, ground it all level again)

All looks better than it did before the smash.

I also have nothing but high praise for dentistry over here. I have used dentist at Bumrungrad than got my smarts and have seen Silom Dental for years on now.

You have to find one that does not want to do unnecessary work. Just had a large crown done this week, quite a difficult job for 8k and that is in Bangkok. One the other hand I have been scammed by a certain dental hospital in the past for 6k for a filling not really needed. Always ask the prices first, and if in doubt a second opnion.

Indeed. My experiences have been so positive that when I retired from teaching one of the things I considered doing was to get people from Western countries to go on tours to Thailand combined with dental procedures. With the difference in costs and the excellent work they could effectively have a holiday for free.

So far great experience at the dental department in Mae Hong Son hospital. Looking forward to getting partials. I left the previous ( poorly fitted US made) set at a former girlfriend's house, and she declined to return them. ????

I had an appointment with a dentist who specializes in bridgework. He had a good look and told me it would be best to leave the bridge alone until it came loose or broke on its own. He said that the pin work was so bad that he would likely cause more damage trying to remove the bridge resulting in much more work needing to be done. I was charged nothing for the consultation. Very professional. He could have earned quite a bit of money and I would have been none the wiser.

Which dentist would you recommend then, for some major work, crowns and bridge? I went to a dental hospital in Bangkok years ago, it looked professional but quite expensive. Later to a hospital in Phitsanulok, happy with the dentists there,  but not sure about their technicians.

I have been very unhappy with the cost and quality of my dental work in Thailand until my last procedure, the installation of an implant, which was done well at St. Louis.

Avoid tourist areas, shopping malls and Dental chains, small independent ones a bit out of the way are best IMO. If that dental Hospital was off Sukhumvit avoid unless money is no object.

Like most posters, I have been very very happy with the extensive and complicated dental work carried out here, in Chiang mai. It cost a little more than I expected but I am impressed with the expertise and compassion. I dont care ( and why should I?) whether they are trained by farang, or their professors, were trained by farang. Not my business.

And as for the frequent thai 'bashing' ( it means criticizing for any who dont get it), I have seen as many lazy idiots in my previous lives in the UK and Spain as I see here. And were it not for the effective policing their, i believe driving standards would be as bad as here. Its the fear of being caught, and the penalties (potential loss of license) that keep folk to the rules.

I need the services of a good dentist, I have many holes and teeth with lumps missing, the only trouble is I am petrified of them, I booked an appointment at a good hospital in Sri Racher quite a while ago, as usual they take your blood pressure prior to doing anything, my BP was 260 / 160 or something stupid, I ended up in the emergency room with the threat of being admitted.

All I need is a general anaesthetic or a jab in the back of the hand to knock me out (I had this for an extraction back in the UK) while they do what they need to do and let me out after, but they won't do it. It's a conundrum.

My first experience  with Thai dentists was for a new partial lower dental plate because my original had been broken too many times. Two  appointments. The first  to take  the impression. Ten days  later  for fitting. 10 minutes of minor adjustment and done. 1850 Bht.  But then I was asked what I wanted to do about the two  temporary caps ? Excuse me,  what temporary  caps?

Well, the two  caps you have are of temporary material. Did  you  intend  to have more work done on them?

I was gobsmacked( ok, small pun) and  said no, not at this  time.

In my home  cuntry they had  cost me  $1200 each!

Five  years on I went to full dentures due to hereditary  gum disease.

A  full mouth of  implants is very far from my financial capacity.

Last set of excellent full dentures from my local hospital....4000Bht. The  "farang price".

Your experience appears unreliable...

Well, my experience with Thais is only allowed to be but so negative. There is an imposed limit. It is not permitted to be too bad.

Same in North Korea and China ????

I was just out walking the dog and received a call on my Apple Watch.  It was the dental clinic calling to follow up after I had a root canal yesterday.  They wanted to make sure everything was okay and I was not feeling any pain or discomfort.  Pretty darn thoughtful if you ask me.  Oh, and I feel great today.????????

Due to a series of traumatic and very painful visits to our dentist as a child, I grew up terrified of them. After my first visit to a dentist here, I was amazed then she told me we were finished - I hardly felt a thing! So gently and such nimble fingers! I have absolutely no fear of going to the dentist's here. Top marks from me!
