Future Forward party candidates on Friday again denied an activist's accusation that they have shares in media companies.

Srisuwan Chanya, a social activist, earlier this week, asked the EC to take legal action against 11 candidates of the party, claiming they owned shares in media firms.

If a candidate is found guilty of the claim they could be jailed for up to 10 years and/or fined Bt20,000 to Bt200,000. Their electoral rights would be banned for 20 years.

Party list candidate Karom Ponpornklang, representing the 11 candidates, told reporters that he and other candidates had no stocks in any media companies. He claimed Srisuwan was politically motivated and has no evidence to back up his claims.

Karom also referred to the candidates’ request for police to take action against Srisuwan for filing false information against them on Thursday.

He said Srisuwan should take responsibility for the allegation and should not walk free when they proved groundless.

“We submitted the police’s request to the EC to protect our rights,” he said. Srisuwan said he was not disturbed by the police complaint, saying he had enough solid evidence before he approached the EC.

The Future Forward leader, Thanathorn Juengrungruengkit, also faced the same allegation and has already met the EC panel to defend himself.

Well in all fairness the activist just this week put in 1 name of PP party lol, just to give him little bit credibility and denial of being a junta aid ....

Srisuwan need an in depth investigation and legal claims pressed on every bit of dirt that can be found on him, he looks a typical scammy rich thai to me .

It is a pretty flimsy rule, as there does not seem to be proof that if they had media shares that it helped them.  Some of the media companies, if memory serves, were defunct.  Thai government's love of the letter of the law and not it's spirit hurts Thailand.

Claytons...they are called, when you have something but don't really want it to pull whatever illegal activity one could want for your own benefit. You mean like the Shinawtra's when last in power and just bent or ignored the laws and statues to suit themselves. Yeah I guess the spirit there was that was how much they could milk off the Thai ecomomy for their own gain. It's hard to work out which is worst at screwing over the Thai citizenry...an incompetent Junta or a thieving Shinawtra.

I tripped over a broken sidewalk tile while walking on Sukhimvit.  I blamed the Shinawartas for that too.   Many also say if it were not for Thaksin, Thailand would enjoy little development.

You take a shot at some corrupt politician but say nothing of those with guns stacking the deck in their favor, so they too can enjoy the spoils.
