March 7, 200719 yr I want to order some goods in China. They will be shipped from China to Thailand.(By DHL or Fedex or...) I don't want to pay in advance. I only want to pay when the goods arrive here in Thailand or at my house. It is not big enough to open a letter of credit. The value is about 10.000 bath. What is the best way to get the goods shipped here and only pay at delivery?? Thanks for the advice.
March 7, 200719 yr If I was an exporter and you were a new customer I would want CBD as there is no business relationship especially over the internet... You could try one of the importers in china town here in BKK. Watch out on the import duty if you do it yourself especially using fedex or dhl. Edited March 7, 200719 yr by Martin_F
March 7, 200719 yr Author I read some older post in the forum about the import duties and the corrupt Thai Custom Service. Is it possible to use normal mail, like EMS? Will I have to deal with the custom service if I use normal airmail?
March 7, 200719 yr EMS/postal service is probably easier. It really depends on the size of the package and the wording on the customs form. Maybe get it sent to a Thai would be better.
March 8, 200719 yr Author Martin, Doesn't china have a trade agreement with thailand so that I have to pay no or very low import duties? Isn't there an agreement between asian countries? Or is there a country that has a free trade agreement with Thailand? Then I will ship the goods first from China to that country and and then to Thailand. Is this possible or stupid thinking??

I am not an expert on FTAs but the FTA with China appears to be on food produce and as you have not mentioned what your goods are cannot comment any more. I would not recommend importing via a middle country as that just adds processing costs - middlemans cuts. Also you many need to consider VAT on the import.
March 9, 200719 yr Author The only thing I found until now is the AFTA Trade (Asean Free trade Area) This is an asean free trade agreement and thailand signed this agreement. Many asean countries including singapore signed this. (Burnei, Indonesia,Malaysia,Philippines,Singapore, Thailand,Vietnam, Loas, Myanmar and Cambodia) China not. So I will check if the Chinese factory has an agent or an office in one of the AFTA Trade members. then I can import the goods from that country. I only have to find what the import duties in Thailand are for import from an AFTA country.
March 9, 200719 yr In some cases import duty is from the source country and not the middle country. Remeber that you may have to pay import duty in the middle country. The ASEAN FTA is for ASEAN countries and China is not a member of that pact.
