Same as intent to carry an offensive weapon.

Daft question, the pharmacist isn't going to get done for supplying so you wont get done for possession. Sidegra isn't a narcotic.

it is not a daft question. it is a prescribed drug and you have no prescription. what is the legal penalty?

None for you. The pharmacist bears the responsibility.

Not true - technically as the drug in Sidegra (sildenafil) is prescription only, if you haven't been prescribed it then you are breaking the law by being in possession of it. Chance of you getting into trouble is around 0% in Thailand.

As has already been mentioned, you are more likely to get into trouble for possessing strong painkillers, hypnotics or anxiolytics than for Sidegra.

If a policeman really wants to arrest you for something, then they could arrest you for being in possession of sildenafil without a prescription, but only if for some reason he really wants to see you arrested.

Unlikely to be a major issues if you are caught, but if the policeman really hates you it could be a night in the cells and a fine plus confiscation of your medications. But that almost certainly won't happen.

What is the penalty for possessing real Sidegra purchased in a pharmacy without a prescription?

Sidegra is a Specially Controlled Drug. As far as I can see, the Drugs Act B.E. 2510 has no provision for penalties for the purchase of a Specially Controlled Drug without a prescription, but restrictions apply for the sale of this class of drugs and penalties apply for violations of these restrictions.

Good question, but it seems like all the reports of shakedowns were for people with the fake, which had really proliferated Sukhumvit.  The availability of Sidegra has really changed the equation.  To think the Pharmacist would take the fall is naive, at best.  Removing it from the packaging for travel might be a crime, too, but you could at least ditch the box..The pain clinic in cm sells pfizer and will issue a letter for 50 THB....but not sure if he even does the letters for it, but would be a good physician to ask.

I would not consider generic silagra to be "fake".  Pfizer viagra contains the same ingredient.

I didnt say it was..but there was fake pfizer here years before Sidegra, and that is what people were getting caught with from Nana to Ekami.

I don't know the official legal penalty but I do know what occurs in practice: cops shake you down for money...

Indeed, this is how the cookie crumbles in Thailand.

Therefore, and only to expand on the legal aspects, even if I had a prescription, issued to me by a medical doctor legally authorised to do so, and if the drug were sold to me by a pharmacy legally authorised to dispense it and if had the original receipt for the purchase to show to the police person (the pharmacy must keep the prescription for their records), this person would likely still shake me down because – you guessed it – this is Thailand.

I could, of course, fight it in court and would win, if not in the first or second instance, at least in the Supreme Court, by which time I would be a few years older and a few million Baht poorer (because, you guessed it, this is Thailand)

Simply not true.  You can buy valium  codeine and xanax which you can be prosecuted for. The pharmacy will not be prosecuted.  As for sex enhancers such as Viagra and cialis...has there ever been a prosecution? Where are they in the criminal code?

It's not the kind of drug you walk around with. Under what circumstances would the police find it in your possession? It is not illegal to be in possession of an erection. I have bought it over the counter in Saudi and Bahrain. In the UK it is no longer a prescription drug. The OP is worrying unnecessarily

Why would you pay way more for this drug when Thailand has made its own drug which you can get a prescription for from any doc at any clinic or hospital?

To answer your question with a question. Why would you buy something that's considered illegal without a prescription, when you can get it way cheaper, without the fear of having a way too soft dongle?

"Good news emerged this year for men suffering from impotence when the Government Pharmaceutical Organisation (GPO) introduced a locally made drug to cure impotence which sells for just 25-45 baht per hardbreaker.

The GPO employs a different procedure to produce sildenafil, so the organization insists it is not violating any international patent law. The GPO's sildenafil drug sells for 45 baht for a 100mg tablet and 25 baht for a 50mg pill.

One study showed that 37% of Thai men aged 40-70 have experienced erectile dysfunction. About 1.2 million Thai men are thought to have the problem. "

Its probably illegal without a prescription as you say but if you have enough only for personal use and if anyone asks (like a policemen with a torch) I would just say this is medicine for personal use. As others have mentioned the worst that might happen is a shake down and relief of satang.

I would stick to one pill on your person though so you cant be accused of selling the stuff

I am extremely disappointed in the OP. After all his conquests in Pattaya, he needs chemical assistance to get it up?

I find it hard ( pun intended ) to believe somebody carrying a single pack would get shaken down; however, TIT.

I can recall an American who brought in a large quantity, presumably for resale, from Tatchilek. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer, he had it in plain sight at the top of a bag, travelling by bus. From memory, the cops at the Mae Chan checkpoint confiscated most of it, fined him 1000 baht, and let him go. Maybe they were mostly amused by his naivety. To this day, he speaks next to no Thai.

I would doubt a small quantity would get too much penalty. The OP should be able to bargain down to 200 baht, if he has learned anything from his negotiations with bargirls.

The Sidegra the OP is talking about is, in fact, the drug made in Thailand which you are talking about.

Hi All I'm a fresher on this forum please treat me gently!

Is Viagra still available on the Sukhumvit Rd around the Nana area please? I read somewhere there was a big police raid in January.

I visited Thailand on a couple of extended holidays last year & plan to return in a few weeks time. I'm not a big fan of the go-go bars & other more sordid aspects of the Thai sex trade but...
