It was a one off and we came to no harm.  Easy to become detached from reality after a twelve hour flight.

    The general rule is, you will check in with their foreign passports, to show they have legal right of entry to the country you are flying to.   Then at immigration you use their Thai passpor

    Outbound:   At Swampy check in desk you should hand over both British and Thai passports.  At the immigration counter only the kids Thai passports.   At the departure gate you hand

    Nothing to worry about really as the kids are completely safe in holding dual nationality.     Though, you raise a good point as having their UK passports in sight can give rise to confusion

Presented UK and Thai, passports at EDI check-in (UK passport logged out), used Thai passport for the rest of the trip, including boarding at Edinburgh.

 

Additional paper

Print of Jack's Thai birth cert, UK birth cert, to link family names if asked .

Print of airline trip summary, with one sentence permission / consent for trip, with phone number, signed by mum.

Mums ID etc scanned and showable on phone.

None of the additional items were requested.
