I heard about reporting within 5 days from date of arrival to Thailand. Is this true? Else you will be fined.

 

 

Seems like the rule often refers to 24 hours, maybe with some leeway for weekends and holidays?

 

Depends on where you're staying.

 

Hotels will report (for) you.

 

If you're staying with a friend, in a condo/apt., AirBnB then you may have to self-report.

 

The issue of repercussions and fines is rather more challenging to address. It may not affect you, or it might if caught in a police sweep or having to accomplish something at Immigration. YMMV.

I stay in bangkok as my husband is a thai and we have our house here. I just returned back from a short visit . I have a one year visa .So I heared from some known person that you need to report within 5 days from day of arrival to immigration. 

My guess: it would best if your husband could report you via a TM-30.

 

It can be done online (assuming your husband has registered with that website), via postal mail, in person. Today is a sort of holiday, so some leeway.

 

Section 38 : The house – master , the owner or the possessor of the residence , or the hotel manager
where the alien , receiving permission to stay temporary in the Kingdom has stayed , must notify the
competent official of the Immigration Office located in the same area with that hours , dwelling place or
hotel, within 24 hours from the time of arrival of the alien concerned. If there is no Immigration Office
located in that area , the local police official for that area must be notified.
In case the house , dwelling place , or hotel where the alien has stayed under provision of Para.1
is located within the Bangkok area , such notification must be reported to the competent official at the
Immigration Division.

Hotels, guesthouses etc do this automatically (they are supposed to) so tourists do not need to do any reporting themselves as it is done for them.

 

For expat residents (those who stay in a house / apartment / condo), either you or the property owner needs to report your address to Immigration. This can be done at the nearest Immigration branch. So when you arrive in Thailand, you are supposed to report your address to Immigration within 24 hours. It is recorded in the Immigration computer system. 

 

You can do that yourself or your husband can do it for you online at: https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn24online/

 

I am not sure immigration in Bangkok is enforcing the TM30 reporting every time you leave an re-enter the country. 

They are checking to see if a TM30 form has ever been submitted when people go in for extensions or 90 day reporting.

In reality the owner of your residence should do the report.

my husband name is registered in home registration card also and is always submitted along with house master copy at the time of extension.

He needs to do the TM30 form to report you are staying at his house.

It can be done by mail to Chaeng Wattana immigration. Once done it should not need to be done again. 

End of March 2019, arrived from my home country after a short holiday, next day morning straight to Sriracha Imm to report TM-30 with better half. (I'm here on the spouse extension).

Sent to room no 6 or 8 cant recall (At the back, opposite the holding cell).

Collected the forms and was asked to complete the forms outside the office. Walking out, just before the door closed.. a very scary and horrible yell.. in thai " Must be filled by the land lord only and must be in Thai".

Once back in, another yell to some lady sitting at the counter.. "Who told you to report with in 7 days, it has to be done with in 24 hrs, don't make rules as you wish. No excuse 800bht fine"

That makes no difference. He will be reporting you as staying at the house he owns.

It has been randomly enforced for several years now. It is written in the immigration act of 1979.

People have been getting fined 800 baht for the report not being done at Chaeng Wattana for a few weeks now.

i have been staying here since 2015 and i have been on regular trips with re entry visa.

And what about leaving the country 7 days before or after 90 days reporting. Is it fined too.

Can anyone explain to me why I have never (knowingly) filled one of these forms out in the 11 years of living here ??

I've been coming and going multiple times per year in that time (work roster)

Never been quizzed at immigration when renewing visa extensions about it either...puzzled...

They were not enforcing it before.

As far as I know Chaeng Wattana is not enforcing for when you leave an re-enter the country.

As I wrote before the are only checking to see it has been done before when you go there to do something at this time.

It has nothing to do with 90 day reporting.

Because it has not been enforced before. Some offices are not enforcing it now or only when you change addresses.

I have never been asked for one either.

i have new question regarding 90 days notification. Can one leave the country within 7 days prior 90 day reporting or within 7 days after reporting. Are they fining on this too?

You can leave on the date your report is due and not be fined. If you do not stay for 90 continuous days a report is not due.

After the report date you could be fined for not doing the report if they notice it when you do your report 90 days after enter the country.

I've always posted in my 90 day report to CW, and got the receipt back without any issues. Is there a risk of a postal application now being rejected - my next one is due in July?

In the two decades I've been here I've never been asked for, let alone even seen a TM30 form.

I guess if the new "system" works, then yes, it would be rejected.

 

While I haven't seen any reports of mail-in TM-47 reports being rejected, there have been reports on online 90-day reports being rejected for lack of a current TM-30 in your record.

Yes, other than a few offices, it seems like your experience matches that of most of us, with this issue only becoming enforced over the past few months.

You should report, or be reported on your behalf, within 24 hours of arriving there. The TM 30 is used. If your short visit was within Thailand and your presence there was not reported to immigration, they would not know and it is not a problem.

Your husband should report you as staying at the address within 24 hours of your arrival there. It is known as TM 30 reporting. It could be a day or two later only where there are immigration closure days. If he doesn't want to do it, you should report yourself. It is only an issue if you need to attend immigration subsequently, and even then some offices aren't interested if you are on a long term permission of stay, and stay at the same address long term.

Not all offices want that done every time you enter the country. No reports of Chaeng Wattana immigration wanting it done.

I am on a retirement extension did my 90 day report today in Jomtien (it was empty) report back 13th August....In July i am going back to the UK for 2 weeks do i have to go back to Jomtien and report my return within 24 hours or just turn up on the 13th August??
