BANGKOK, 10 May 2019 (NNT) - The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) discussed with government and private agencies to jointly determine ambulance standards during the transfer to create a safety system in terms of the ambulance structure, the drivers, the medical personnel, the investigation and response system after an accident.

MOPH Permanent Secretary Praphon Tangsrikiatkun said the MOPH has placed importance on the safety of ambulances to ensure safety for patients and staff while transferring and reduce losses. The MOPH has formed committees for determining the ambulance standard and operational procedures for safely transferring patients. The committees consist of officials from the National Institute for Emergency Medicine, Land Transport Department, Thai Industrial Standards Institute, Traffic Police Bureau and Royal Thai Police. Five ambulance standard safety working groups have been formed to supervise the standard of ambulance structure, development of practice guidelines for ambulance safe driving, development of guidelines for the safety of medical personnel while working on an ambulance, development of a network to create a safety system on ambulances and development of an investigation and response system after an ambulance accident.

The MOPH has also invited executives of private companies with expertise and experiences in mass transit service to jointly exchange safety guidelines in terms of the standard of the vehicle structure, personnel and the work system with the ambulance safety standard working group. Many issues relating to passenger safety can be applied to the ambulances. The working group has presented information on the progress of the operation and will hold a meeting to conclude each issue in order to prepare a standard determination manual and criteria for promoting safety in all 5 aspects which will be submitted to the meeting of the ambulance standard determination committee by June 2019.

If you wanna meeting on how to pack more paying riders in, hire dodgy drivers, and make the trip as fast as humanly possibly with no regard to safety, they're the right guys to invite.
