Why do some Farang worry so much about Thailand being too =hot=?
I'm making perfect sense. Again things that are bad can be changed by people complaining about them. This is how laws are written. This is how people are made safer on the roads. This is how gun control can be made to have people live safer lives. Because you visited 40 countries means you spent little time in any of them. You are mostly around a group of people, and not amongst the people who live in those countries, seeing what the problems are, and not knowing how those problems can be changed. You think it's only foreigners that complain here? That means you don't live amongst them, and hear what they say, daily, about the things that hurt this country. Corruption here is as high as anywhere on earth, and this hurts the populace. Human trafficking here is huge, and this hurts individuals and families, permanently sometimes. Why do you think so many protest downtown in Bangkok? For changes. Problem is, they jail or kill many who protest, unlike western countries where you can say anything you want, as long as it isn't threatening. If you actually lived here, and knew what actually goes on, you might understand why others complain. Westerners know a better way of life, and would like to see some things changed here not only for their good, but for the good of everyone who lives here. It doesn't mean you change everything, but things that are hurting the locals. It doesn't matter what you like about Thailand. This country is still many years behind the standards of safe living. The only way things will improve here is if ideas from other, more developed countries are put in place. The road system sucks here. The electricity one uses here is outdated. Laws aren't enforced and money can but off most any problems. The way children are cared for is appalling. The schools pass children who are failing, and fathers aren't made responsible for the children they conceive. You think this will change without complaining? Rose colored glasses and brown nosing lets things that are bad continue. -

For others, things have never been better, and under President Harris it will be onward and upward. It's almost unfair how easy it has been to make money since Biden took over. Heck, there's even enough to go around so that magas can still get their Social Security Disability Insurance, which carries most of the inhabitants of Magastan, Socialists that they are at their core. -

What’s the best area in Thailand for expats to settle for long-term living?
I guess it depends what you consider the bar scene. A place that simply serves alcohol w/food, or also serves P4P. After living here, I've met a few lasses in bars, and never paid for their company. But they were Thai themed bars, clubs, not geared toward tourist/expat market or adult entertainment venues, where one would go specifically for P4P. A few gals I met in normal settings, not prowling the bars. At the markets, or service reps while going about everyday living, and no different than living and meeting like minded ladies in the USA. Obviously if living on P4P, need to be in tourist area, or larger metro, that has areas that cater to that market. Obvious choices, Bkk, Patts, Phuket. Udon Thani has an area for. Would guess CM and Hua Hin also have, though a bit low key. Khon Kaen probably still has. Though any area, Hua Hin and north of, you may have to deal with 4-6 months of very unhealthy air pollution. -

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
well, based on what I read about in the revenue dept English was that the tax exemption on foreign income could be challenged/dropped if the Director General of the Revenu Department so decided. But, since this is an integral part of a visa designed to get wealthier foreigners to come and stay longer in Thailand, thus spend more money, I think they might decide to keep it at least for the foreseeable future. I personally am not worried about that aspect of the visa as the DTA also exempts my pension but I also do like the no 90-day reporting, in and outs of the country, and is certainly less paperwork required qualifications. Can do all at home on a computer! much easier and based on the yearly cost of a what I had retirement O, a tad cheaper. 1900+3800 per year more than the 50,000 for the LTR. So, perfect for me but I also realize that it may not be perfect for all and do not wish the DIRGEN to drop that royal exemption, but, TIT.
