BANGKOK, 24 May 2019 (NNT) - The Department of Medical Services (DMS) organized the second training on the use of medical marijuana extract for medical personnel so that they can properly and correctly prescribe medical marijuana extract products for patients.

Healthcare providers consisting of 250 physicians, dentists and pharmacists attended the second training on the use of medical marijuana extract held by the DMS at Amari Don Muang Airport Hotel.

DMS Director General Somsak Akkhasil said while presiding over the opening session of the training that the training was aimed at allowing medical personnel who order or prescribe marijuana products for patients to understand marijuana such as the essence of its action, marijuana product pattern, related laws and cautions for using marijuana by providing clear details to the participants.

The training was held for two days. There was a test after the training. Those who have passed more than 60 percent of the test have passed the assessment and have been granted a certificate which allows them to order or prescribe marijuana products for patients for two years but they must also be registered with the Food and Drug Administration. The DMS Director General has instructed the participants to take the benefits of patients into account.
