If you can afford one of these - make sure they are legal!

Caption: A lack of transparency

Crime Suppression Division police showed the media ten super cars that had been seized recently.

They were valued at 200 million baht.

Pol Maj-Gen Jiraphop Phuridech said that they were cars smuggled over the border along natural routes from neighboring countries.

The vehicles had not had customs duty paid on them then had been fitted with fraudulent plates and been sold to unsuspecting buyers on the second hand market utilizing fake papers.

He warned prospective buyers to watch out for this scam and ensure the vehicles they want to buy are totally legitimate or they too might fall victim.

If I could afford to own and maintain one of those cars, I doubt I would be here

Which one has the most expensive running costs?

At least with the car problems can be diagnosed and fixed with a fair amount of certainty and not lots of usually wrong guess work to get to the source of the often happening strange whining noises.

Still... when comparing, nowhere near as much fun "servicing" the car

"Unsuspecting buyers" - that seems very unlikely, unless the Land Transport Office was also involved in the scam.

Depends on how long you keep her.

@Moonlover

Confused ?

Both can whine but it's easy to work out why the car is whining. With women no one in history has ever worked out the womans real reason for a particular whine.

If you think you can, then think again. ????????

You still have to factor in disposal costs. ????

Nicely assembled spare parts.

I go for bolted together spare parts.

Another difference betwee cars and a woman is that you can come home smelling of another cars lubrication system and your car won't thow a fit

Just swap for a newer model. Not sure if you'll get anything in exchange though.

both depreciate in value over time .    except the rare occasion when an attachment is formed that can not be measured in monetary terms.   usually happened (appreciation, that is )more often with cars, in my case

Ah, small penis extensions. I’m good, thanks.

How many luxury vehicles have all the documents in order? tidy little earner for the officials to assist buyers with understanding import duty requirements.

OK got it cheers.

We had a similar one on the flight line in Saudi Arabia.

'How can you tell when there's an Australian in the cockpit?'

'When the engine stops you can still hear the whining'.

Mate used to say he gave up letting his wife sit on the pillion seat of his bike because of the continual whining sounds when she was there.

As I say, you can service another car and your car won't get jealous.

So when they auction off these cars where does the money go? Charity? To buy new police equipment? To the government? Where? Any transparancy on that?

They will be way overpriced so nobody buy them and be forgotten until they inevitably make the news for having crashed into a pole.

Non legit Lambo's a fraudulent Ferrari and a bent Bentley .. If they find their way back onto Thailand's road's odd's on them getting wrapped around trees and powerpoles .?

I know a guy who has such a car here for whatever reason. An endless chaos starts mostly when he needs a repair. The mechanics here don't have much experience with such cars and will make you suffer.

Both probably had a good thrashing

Or getting a new BiB hood ornament .

You would think the owners could be provided with a tax bill instead of seizing the car, especially if they bought it in good faith and didn't know the status of the vehicle.

I believe there has been some discussion on fitting hybrid and electric cars with a noisemaker, as there have been problems with their silent approach. It has been decided not to do so in the case of such vehicles licensed as taxis, the constant whining from the front right seat  is adequate.

Nobody smuggles cars across borders in Europe as:
1) there are no borders anymore and
2) the duty, excise and VAT systems are reasonable

If I see that I pay more for a decent pick-up (...ahem ..... truck) in Thailand than for a entry model of a BMW in Germany - go figure.

But yeah, somebody has to pay for the governments little toys like submarines, railways, highways and other expenses they push through without public hearing nor public approval of (which?) budget ........

Some countries like Finland do have extortionate taxes on imported vehicles. However what they don't have is corrupt officials giving you papers for the import without paying the taxes.

You must be getting old and senile overherebc because it is easy to fix the whine in the woman. It is called money. Just give them more money and the whine just disappears until they have spent that lot then the whine returns
