Someone should have warned Mr. Hogg not to build a house out in the stck , with family members nearby , they are poor, he was rich , a fatal combination.
Buy a condo instead , 24 h security, much safer.

Don't really understand you farangs. If you are looking for a foreign wife, take her with you to live in your home country, just like what most Malaysian men would do that have married Thai or Vietnamese women.

At the most, some Malaysian men may keep their Thai mistresses near some border towns such as Betong, so that they can visit them once in a while, because they still have wives.

Because we are Cheap Charlies...that is what brought us to Thailand in the first place. If one can't afford to live by themselves in home country, how will they afford the cost for 2.

You would have to be nuts to bring anyone to your home country to live. They can be happy in Thailand with less as its the life they know. But bring them to the USA and they see how people live here and they won't be happy living the same standards you took them away from. Plus every guy they meet will be hitting on them, can you buy a chassidybelt now days. LOL. As in thailand she might not stand out but she sure would here. Just my 2 cents.

Yes..it can be somewhat problematical and reminds me of an experience I had after talking to a Thai lady arriving from the USA....

She had just returned from where she lived in North Carolina and showed us a photo of a splendid neo-colonial mansion.

Two weeks later she was living with her family in what can only be described as a back woods farmlet out near Phibun-and she was as happy as Larry.

I'm going to hazard a guess that Warut had no money while the victims had plenty, probably due to a life of hard work.

As I can remember he employed the man for many years as a gardener and he had a place to live at the bottom of the garden.as so often when a Thai has something good they don't realise lifes options.he got lazy and stopped working and just demanded money.thai thinking is if you got money you should just give it away.

What is the point of being rich if you can't flaunt it.   Far better to never associate yourself with people who don't have money themselves that way you don't end up with jealous relatives.

The high cost of living excuse doesn't add up. What about the costs of healthcare in Thailand as a foreigner? Wouldn't that be a problem, especially as you get older?

For example, in Malaysia I pay 1 ringgit for a GP consultation+medicines at a government clinic and 5 ringgit for a specialist consultation+medicines at a government hospital. If I move to another country, I would lose access to that affordable healthcare.

Not that your reason make any sense to me, but I kind of like it. Haha.
