Pattaya sets 218 million baht for flood control

PATTAYA:--The Pattaya City Council approved 218 million baht for 10 projects to fix flooding problems in the city.

 

The projects target 20 areas where flooding has persisted over the years despite the installation of pumps and clearance of sewer lines.

Plans call for upgrades of underground pipes and purchase of additional pumps and equipment.


The areas of focus are outside Pattaya Technical Collage, Naklua Old Market, Naklua Road at the Plukplub Canal, Soi Nongyai, Pacific Village, Soi Tangmo, Soi Buakhao, an alley outside the Diana Inn, Sukhumvit Road, Soi Wat Thamsamakee, Railway Road, Third Road at the Mum Aroy restaurant, Beach Road, Soi Jularat, Thepprasit Soi 7, Rom Po Market, behind the Pattaya Floating Market and Pratamnak Road. Personally I think they should take a look at the sewers of Paris.  They started building them in 1850 and they are still working just fine.

 

Love the way they clear them.  They have a boat that has wooden blades that swing out to the sides and help form a scoop.  The flowing water pushes the boat through the sewer while it scoops up the trash and greaseburgs.

 

Here in Thailand they wouldn't even need the boats, just give a few prisoners some boards and let the rushing flood of filthy mixed rain and sewer water push them through the sewers.  The prisoner's next life would be much better because of all the merit they would gain doing this.

Yes but the extra increase in budget is for the brown envelopes that are passed to the usual suspects for allowing some work to be seen to be done.
