BANGKOK, 11 June 2019 (NNT) - On the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the Office of the Election Commission (EC), the EC Chairman has confirmed that the EC will make the least mistakes possible as it continues to improve its work in both central and regional areas.

The EC organized an event to mark its 21st anniversary. In the morning, Mr. Itthiphorn Bunprakhong, the EC Chairman, EC members, senior officials and staff attended a ceremony to worship Brahma at Chaengwattana Government Complex before allowing the relevant agencies to congratulate them.

The EC did not accept flower baskets this year but asked the agencies to donate money to support the operation of the Ramathibodi Foundation. Senior officials of the Public Relations Department also donated money to Ramathibodi Foundation to assist in the purchase of medical equipment.

EC Chairman Itthiphorn Bunprakhong said on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the EC Office, that the EC will learn from mistakes that have occurred in the past to improve its operations because its aim is to work better and better.

As for consideration of alleged violations of election laws, there is currently no case for a red card. Meanwhile, the EC has dismissed the petitions of many cases and some cases are under further investigation. The EC has already accepted the petition for inspection in the case claiming the Future Forward Party has disclosed the purchase of a cobra MP.

the EC will make the least mistakes possible” - somehow that doesn’t inspire confidence. Imagine you’re on a plane and the pilot comes on the speaker to say that.

 How many mistakes are acceptable?

I would like to have seen the EC celebrate the 5-year anniversary of its walk-out in protest when the Prayut junta cancelled the May 2014 elections as well as revoking the 2007 Constitution that established in part the EC.

But alas, we know EC's history following the government overthrow and five years without an election.

I foresee more overseas trips to "research" how other countries do democracy.

How they have the gall and audacity - beyond all imagining - to 'celebrate' their existence after the recent 'election' disgrace is all the proof we need that shamelessness in some quarters knows absolutely no bounds ...

Just to note :-
A cobra is an MP of one party who defects to another for money or other incentives.
