Wissanu reveals all about the senatorial selection committee

 

 

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam has finally disclosed the identities of the nine members of the senatorial selection committee, after coming under heavy pressure from the public and political parties alike.

 

He insisted that there was nothing secret about the selection committee, but the list was not disclosed to avoid exposing the committee members to heavy lobbying or interference.

 

The nine selection committee members included five cabinet ministers and four members of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO).  From the cabinet there were deputy prime ministers General Prawit Wongsuwan, Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong, General Chatchai Sarikulya and Dr. Wissanu Krea-ngam. The four NCPO members were General Thanasak Patimaprakorn, Admiral Narong Pipatanasai, Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew and General Anupong Paochinda.

So a broad cross-section (2/9 were not "in uniform") of society then!

 

That must be why the Senate which they selected is so representative of Thai society as a whole, and therefore voted fully in accordance with the wishes of the Thai electorate!

All honest and above board, that's alright then.

Farcical. No wonder it was kept quiet for so long. The same small band of uniformed autocrats nominated and voted for each other and their friends. The must be some 500 old men who are in total control of the senate, courts, EC and NACC and engineering the future of Thailand for their own purposes. Well past the time for Western governments to refuse to deal with these people.

This is just another case of the old pals act, you vote for me, i vote for you, no matter what happens keep quiet, about it, just keep the peasants quiet/ happy.

so they have selected themselves into senate: senate president Pornpetch Vichitcholchai, gen Thanasak Patimakorn, admiral Narong Pipatnarasai, pol gen Adul Saengsinkao, air marshal Prajin Jantong, gen Charchai Sarigalaya.

I don't think it's an either ... or ... . More of an and ... and ... .

I won't even bother to read the article. If the headline says that 'Wissanu reveals all ...', I know that I am going to get a load of complete hogwash.

Some of us learn from experience. Simple as that!

Don't forget the budget for the election choice of senators was 1.3 billion baht. I would love to know how that money was spent!

Truly what was no secret was that six senator seats would be held for NCPO members as well as an unspecified number of seats filled by active-duty military officers.

If the Senate candidates were allegedly selected without any conflict of interest and without any political portfolio, this information alone gave the public clues of who would dominate the Senate.

Seems to be a lot of uniforms mixed in there?

the five ones with the yellow arrows (below) chose themself to be the senator

It cost 1,300 million baht for the choosing. Budget.

more than 5 million each one.

The other four get the other job.
