BANGKOK, 13 June 2019(NNT) - The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) is planning to award 700-megahertz licences to mobile operators on June 19, 2019, with a reserve price of 17.58 billion baht per 10MHz bandwidth. Each licence is valid for 15 years.

The NBTC held a meeting to explain the terms and conditions of the 700MHz licence sales. The meeting was joined by representatives of Advanced Info Service (AIS), Total Access Communication (DTAC), and True Move, as the 70MHz spectrum band is ideal for building cost-efficient 5G coverage.

The NBTC Deputy Secretary-General, Korkit Danchaivichit, said the terms and conditions have been carefully designed to ensure that the spectrum will be used beneficially by operators, and the regulator has made sure that the spectrum will not affect digital television operators and other frequencies. The NBTC will sell its 700MHz spectrum slots on June 19. Bidders are required to submit their proposals, pay a documentation fee of 10,000 baht with the inclusion of 7% value-added tax (VAT), and provide a letter of guarantee worth 880 baht issued by financial institutions.

According to the terms and conditions of the licence sales, the regulator will sell 30MHz of bandwidth to the three operators, with a reserve price of 17.58 billion baht per 10MHz bandwidth. Each licence is valid for 15 years, starting October 1 next year, and buyers have to pay under a 10-year installment plan, with 10% payable per year.

Frequencies within the 700 Mhz band were issued to some digital television operators ahead of the allocation, but their allowances will be revoked on June 24, 2029. These frequencies are to be used in developing 5G telecommunications technology.

How much of this money flows back to China? Simple question and no where is China mentioned in this article. Thailand. Just another Chinese lapdog.
