Work Permit Card?

I seem to recall seeing that work permit books would be replaced by work permit cards.  Is that correct?

 

If so, I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has received one. 

 

Did you have to specifically request it? What information is on it?

No they have been replaced by an electronic WP. If approved it is set up on your mobile phone.

 

You download the app in advance and once WP is approved they give you an authorization code.

What is the solution for those of us who don't have smartphones / don't want to add their spyware to our phones?

 

One assumes the blue book will continue.

You can ask, but is you want a Work Permit, get a phone.

Just had my WP renewed at the BKK labour office.

 

Blue book stamped up as usual, no sign of anything electronic ????

kinda makes sense they stamp an existing book, iam returning to Thailand for a new job next week so will see then if they issue a book or tell me to download an app for my phone.

Got my brand new WP this week at Chamchuri Square. Blue book, no talk of anything electronic.
