Hello,

I've looked at several mattress pads and I'm not satisfied with the thickness. My landlord has given me a hard mattress, and I want to make my own king-size mattress pad. Does anybody know a shop that sells foam rubber, or rubber padding in varying thickness?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks - O

I understand your problem perfectly as I''ve been in the identical situation several times in Bangkok. I''ve never been able to find foam pads and have posted identical questions to yours on several forums. Seems hard to believe that you can't buy foam pads somewhere. There must be upholstery shops etc. but I always gave up after a while.

The Thai shops which sell beds also sell hideous and overpriced mattress pads they call "toppers" and eventually I've just always just settled on one of them as the easiest way to go.

Please do post back if you find a supplier of foam pads.

On Soi Rangnam just south of the Victory Monument there is a small upholstery shop just opposite the Lotus Tesco Express. They mostly seem to do motorcycle seats but they could probably handle something like you're looking for. Chok dee!

Today found what I was looking for at a shop named Pirun Thong between Sukhumvit Soi 45-47. I'm having a custom 4 in. thick (covered in cotton) foam mattress pad made for my king size mattress. The owner is a very nice lady that speaks very good English, and is very helpful. They can make a variety of things including cotton mattress pads, bedspreads, cushions, slipcovers, duvet covers etc. They have many samples of their products including hundreds of fabrics to choose from.
