Thailand Needs Smaller Denomination Stamps.

Featured Replies

For whatever reason I could not post this in the "In Your Face" forum, so please just move as required. It is just a light hearted look at another institution here.

The Thai Post office it seems only has 3 Baht and 5 Baht stamps where I am (Amphur Size office) - I took my 90 day report and sent it two ways by EMS. The lady at the post office then had to fix the stamps on the return envelope. Take a look at this, she took ten minutes trying to arrange the stamps in order not to obscure the return address, some of the top row are partially folded onto the back of the envelope. It took some time and dexterity to accomplish this feat. Next time I want to see it done with 3 Baht stamps.

Then if you look closely, the post office had to make sure that they stamped every single stamp when they returned it. Why don't they have 10 or 20 Baht stamps? - Previously they have used 5 Baht stamps when they had no 3 Baht ones available, and they only charge the 3 Baht! (Yes, I know it is cheaper by ordinary mail but unless I send it EMS it gets binned / dumped / lost by the post office 50% of the time, which then means I have a 90KM drive to immigration to get a copy, so it is money well spent in my opinion)

You are very lucky then! My nearest post office, despite being a sort of provincial main office that covers the entire San Patong district, often has to spend 10 minutes looking between their 3 service counters just to find their book of stamps. They are actually a great bunch of people. Always friendly and joking. The girl doing the stamps on this envelope was in stitches, especially after I told her how beautiful she had made the envelope look.

Charlie - Is there some reason that I do not see a "Start New Topic" in the "In Your Face " Forum?

"Thailand Needs Smaller Denomination Stamps"

I think a thread title change is needed, as it would appear that Thailand actually needs larger denomination stamps.  Or, the same denomination, but larger envelopes.

I have a few 10 baht stamps.  How much are you offering?
