Go search you tube for some of the videos. A border facility that has 100 beds and 60,000 thousand people arrive in a month is a total over kill to handle. Congress would not pass an emergency bill to add funding for the problem

actually once at a pattaya hotel the room water stopped after midnight and staff just smiled and said "mai pen rai" i had gotten back from a night on the town.  ended up buying the largest water bottles at 7 eleven and used them to drink, shower and flush toilet. i complained at booking . com but it was not until the next day that they changed my room.

My favorite part of threads like these and lunatic politicians like AOC is that nobody EVER has a solution or recommendations. Just grandstanding for personal gain, virtue signaling, lying, and demonizing. 

 

Republicans have been banging on about this issue forever and the leftwing radicals have been blocking any maneuver to do anything about it because they want it to get horrible so they can use it as political ammunition.

I am liberal, believe immigrants contribute a lot to the success of the US, and sympathetic to true asylum seekers.  That said, AOC is a shameless grandstanding publicity hound and she contaminates any cause she claims to espouse.  As a freshman Congressperson, she should be either in her district learning her constituents' concerns and needs, or in Washington learning the ropes.  But she has no interest in serving, only in promoting herself. 

Whatever the true state of US/Mexican border detention facilities are, I wouldn't trust AOC to give any sort of impartial evaluation.  She went there dead set to find them "horrifying" whatever their condition.

The conditions at the Detention Centers was first made public by attorneys who regularly visit the centers.   At least one of them has been doing so for the past 20 years.    Another long time visitor was a medical practitioner who also went public.   If you don't want to believe the lawmakers, then you might want to believe the people who have been visiting for a long, long time.   

If you don't want to believe them, then it might be wise to pay attention to the very official Office of the Inspector General's Office (OIG).   They found serious deficiencies at all the facilities.  There were major deficiencies in food safety, including rotted, moldy food at all facilities.      Providing for the hygiene was a pretty consistent deficiency in many areas.   Improper segregation of detainees was another and also not allowing visitors even though visitation was permitted and there is a visitors room.   These the policies and procedures that ICE has a greed to.

Many of these are private facilities and a Google search will show who the beneficiaries are.   I believe it is a bit off-topic here.

 

The DHS has put out a Management Alert, concerning overcrowding and prolonged detention of adults and minors.   

 

It's a further damning report from a government agency.   The overcrowding is so bad that in some of the facilities it is standing room only, it is not possible to sit or lie down.   It includes pictures:
