Two hooded men today robbed three Vietnamese nationals of their money at their apartment in Samut Sakhon province southwest of Bangkok.

The three victims - one man and two women - were set free by neighbours who heard them shouting for help after the two robbers fled and took their mobile phones and Bt60,000 in cash.

They told police that the two robbers cuffed them with cable ties and covered their face with blankets while searching the room for valuables. The perpetrators knocked on the door early in the morning then forced their way into the room.

The young victims said they had been in Thailand for six months and were attending career training courses while travelling. Police are continuing to question them while checking on footage from surveillance cameras.

Hmm very strange. Maybe the Vietnamese nationals owed the robbers some money? Perhaps they were loan sharks who hadn't been paid their debts? Something is fishy about this story. Never heard of a random robbery like this occurring in Thailand. I think the victims knew the perpetrators.

I wouldn't go as far as suspecting loan sharks. Could just be a careless remark (to fellow trainees, perhaps) about (not being able to open a bank account and) keeping all the dosh at home...
