Khao Wong National Park officials are searching for a wild elephant struck and injured by a pickup truck early Tuesday while crossing a road in Rayong’s Khao Chamao district.

 

Pickup driver Rampheung Sopphol, 69, told police he had no time to avoid the elephant when it lurched out of the roadside woods into his path at 5.30am on Highway 3377 in front of Wat Nam Sai.

 

The elephant scurried off, leaving the truck’s front end damaged but the driver unhurt.
