Well known farang monk accused of inappropriate behaviour

 

 

Thailand is agog at the alleged actions of a western monk who is accused of having a sexual relationships with at least two women.  

The man was outed by a social activist and net idol called "Dr Somchai". 

The monk is based in Mae Hong Sorn in Thailand's far north. 

He is said to have had a relationship with a western woman at a resort in Chantaburi in the south east. 

A resort owner confirmed he was there dressed in white 'robes'. 

There are also reports that the "Phra Farang" (caucasian monk) allegedly had a relationship with a Thai women before dumping them and returning to the temple, reported Daily News. 

Sources in Mae Hong Sorn have confirmed to the Thai media that the monk is still there. 

The Buddhist Ecclesiastical Council are investigating the allegations.

The story was reported Friday by Channel 3, Thairath, Kapook and Sanook News.

No Thai would sell a lottery ticket to a Monk.
One approached me and asked in perfect English if I would go into 7/11 to purchase him a pack of
Cigs!

..while the local monks are saints..

Canadian monk to be disrobed after admitting to sexual relations

Famous Canadian monk Phra Julien Apataro, who had spent almost 20 years living as a monk on a remote hillside in the Sop Moei district of Mae Hong Son province, admitted on a televised news show on Friday to having had sexual relations with women.

 

Apologising to Thai people over his alleged serious monastic indiscipline, the monk, in his early 40s, whose layman name is Julien Desilets, told Channel 3’s Thiangwan Tan Hetkarn (News Updates at Noon) that he would leave the monkhood in a ceremony presided over by his preceptor monk on Saturday (August 10).

 

Mae Hong Son’s ecclesiastical provincial governor Phra Sumonsatsanakij pointed out that if Phra Julien had committed the serious monastic indiscipline as reportedly confessed by him, he must be disrobed at the original temple where he had been ordained. He said the monk’s alleged actions tarnish the religion. Apparently Phra Julien had been ordained at a temple in Chiang Mai province's Hot district, hence the ceremony must be held by his preceptor monk there, the senior monk explained. He said he had already assigned the Sop Moei ecclesiastical chief to launch a fact-finding mission into the scandal.

 

Phra Julien first came to Thailand at age 18 as a Canadian exchange student who specialised in agricultural studies and became interested in practising meditation. He returned to Thailand in 1998 and then practised the Eight Precept principle on his own in Thailand for a year. After being ordained a monk in 2000, he resided in Sop Moei where villagers built a small monastery for him in the Phutha Kareni village in tambon Mae Sam Laeb. He lived modestly, eating fruit and vegetables and would collect alms twice a week because he did not wish to burden the poor villagers who already faced hardship.

 

His story – of a western monk living in rural Thai area -- was publicised by foreign media as well as Thailand’s popular "Khon Khon Khon" TV programme several years ago.

 

Social activist and veterinarian Somchai Sirithepsongklod, who exposed the scandal via his recent posts on Facebook along with photographic evidence of a white-clad man resembling Phra Julien standing next to a Swiss woman during their alleged “honeymoon trip” in Chanthaburi province five years ago, insisted that the accused had engaged in sexual relations while he was still a monk. He added that the woman had unsuccessfully complained about the monk’s alleged misconduct to various organisations but none paid heed to her until the story reached Somchai, who posted it on Facebook. This brought criticism from Thai netizens over the monk’s alleged misconduct.

Just wearing a white or orange robe does not stop , thoughts and eyes looking, 

some then find their will eroded  and give in to the normal urges that are triggered either from memory or anticipation,

it is not natural to not use the plumbing,

old mate should use more discretion.

We read about instances similar to this on a very regular basis.

From what I can see, Phra Farang seems to have assimilated into existing Thai Buddhist culture perfectly.

He's truly gone native.

He is being "disrobed"? seems he has been disrobing already.  Kudos for the dude for gaming the system .

I've seen many Thai monks smoking cigarettes, my wife told me that it is acceptable for them to smoke.

Must have been a novice, if he wasn't in conversation on the latest iPhone with a "follower", and talking about how he was going to help her reach enlightenment this weekend.

Thai monk, well known or otherwise, accused of inappropriate behaviour. He was turned on by a female passenger and starting wanking and released his load on the floor of the bus. Buddhism at it's finest, Taking nothing away from Christians or Muslims who also have a lot to answer for.

Untrue. Already saw thai monks buying lottery tickets. 

Maybe just one chapter in the non best seller he thinks he's going to write.

about as right ( wrong of course) as Christian monks, priests, vicars having sex with kids.  Religious hypocrisy knows no National, religious or geographic boundaries,  it happens in all of them, bar none.

Yee have little faith if cannot control your Buddhist desires. Having a mobile phone in my interpretation is crossing the line of needs that are acceptable.
